Hi Guys

I'm thinking of getting this Diamond Back Sorrento FS 2007 Mountain Bike as part of a ride to work scheme as I get good discount, but I can't seem to find any where that does reviews on mountain bikes?

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction please?

Thanks

Well this is what it looks like, I'm going to order today I think :)

From what I remember Diamond back is a good make?

TBH, any full suspension bike for £300-£400 is going to be compromised.

Might be worth grabbing a copy of the current What MTB magazine which is the Bike of the Year issue. They have a recommendation for a £300 hard-tail (a Dawes IIRC)

Hmmm

Damn these expensive bikes :( I'm not a pro by any means I just want a smooth ride!

I'll go and grab a copy of that now though ;)

Thanks

Oh the Specialized Hard Rock looks like a nice bike for the cash :)

So are we saying unless I spend 1k+ rear suspension is not possible? However if I spend £300 - £400 and get rear suspension it will be cr*p?

So gents I know nothing about mountain bikes which is why I have come here for your advice :D

You can do plenty with a decent hardtail and unless you are doing the kind of riding that will make use of FS it's just extra weight to lug around, saps your power when you pedal and more bits that could go wrong.

Funny you should mention Evans as that the place our company has the scheme running with!

Glad to hear others on here mention the same place :)

I couldn't have put it better myself.

FS does not equate to more comfort necessarily. A good saddle is all you need. If you get into the sporting side of it (as opposed to utility/commuting), get some padded shorts if your going to be hitting trails at the weekends.

Seriously, the GT Avalanche 1.0 = £500-600 normally iirc.

Its one of the lightest bikes for sub £500.

And its £370.
