PS3 DIRT DEMO

mm nice hope the bloom effect is turned down like in graw2 really not a fan of that would rather have crisp gfx than blurred.

thx for the heads up.

The dirt demo is on for ps3.
Now we can see if the ps3 version is better than the 360 one

Having just compared the 2 demos, it doesn't. PS3 colours lack depth. Still suffers from the same tearing/glitching the 360 version suffered from too. Then the lack of rumble kills it.

Oh well.

Been in the US PSN store for a couople of weeks now, only appeared today on the UK one.

Don't have a PS3. Wouldn't know that. I could only assume that it was available to UK as a lot of people had it. Still... already been discussed so it makes no difference if it only came to the UK store today.

How odd.

I've played the demo to death, and pre-ordered the full game on the basis of that demo.

I didn't notice one instance of tearing, or glitching.

I compared it to the PC version, running on the same TV, and the PC version did have brighter colours, I'd put this down to the digital vibrance ;)

Nevertheless, it runs better on the PS3, than on my system, so that's the version I've opted for. I noticed no slowdowns, no jerkyness, the lack of rumble certainly doesn't kill it for me... but, horses for courses!

Wow!

This is a totally different game now!

I hated the Xbox demo of this game, it ran awful, felt cumbersome and i hated the over use of blur and HDR/Bloom.

The PS3 version runs very well, not sluggish anymore. Better colours imo. The blur is toned down, it actually looks good now.

The main reason i hated the 360 demo was the framerates, this is much better!

Only bad thing is that i noticed a few jaggies, not that major though.

Interesting to read.

I remember at the time of release, people saying the XBOX version had some dodgy framerates sometimes, though I haven't seen the XBOX version myself.

This is why I get surprised now though, to see somebody saying the PS3 version of the demo is no better. I've witnessed no slowdown, and found it a joy to play. As I said, on the basis of playing that, I've ordered the full game.

Well, I guess it had to happen sooner or later ;)
Although, in this instance, I'm sure I remember reading somewhere, a while ago, that the PS3 was the lead development machine? If so, that would explain it. I guess whatever machine is the lead development machine, would usually end up with the better version.

I think its something to do with Sony helping Codemasters with the game giving them development tips. Not entirely sure though...

Could be. Maybe when people learn to code for the PS3 properly, it'll start to be more impressive.

Maybe it was Sega Rally that the PS3 is the lead development machine for, and got that and DiRT mixed up, as I have that on pre-order too.

Then there's something wrong with your eyes or your TV.

The 360 version suffered from a v. bad frame rate & over the top bloom effects, while having AA.

The PS3 version has jaggies, but has much more realistic lighting and a solid frame rate... both games utilise v-sync, so there should be no tearing, if there is then there is a severe problem with your TV set.

I do think the 360 controller is a lot better for accelerating/braking though with the triggers rather than the shoulder buttons for the PS3 version.

Also the colours on the ps3 version are a lot better

I read that a few developers have said that when the PS3 is the lead development platform, both versions (360 and PS3) come out better than if it was the other way around. Maybe we will see this happening more?
