Hi ive been looking around for a decent PSU I want it to have the detachable cables and it needs to be atleast 750 Watts I calculated the max output using extreme calculator at 675Watts which will run a qx6850 to 8800 ultras 4 sata hard disks 1 dvdrw and a watercooling system also for future proofing I alowwed for Overclocking my system .;)
I looked at the enermax galaxys but there a little over expensive
Also I looked at the hyper type r range but there doesnt seem to be much comment on them.
a lot of people recoment the corsair but there not that meaty and I dont want the unit to struggle.;)

So any suggestions would be great.:D

Don't doubt the Corsair's credentials. The HX 620W has been shown running a watercooled & overclocked QX6700, 8800GTX SLi system  See here.

For the amount you spending on components, it would be unwise to compromise on what feeds it i.e. PSU! IMHO (& most here would agree) cut-back on something then get a 'proper' PSU like the Enermax Galaxy 1000W if you want to future proof (make sure it fits case its not standard size) :)

shifty, I'm seriously doubtful about the 675w figure if that is a system with a single graphics card. If SLi'd then it is more possible but still probably won't draw anywhere near that in normal operation. A mistake a few people seem to make with that PSU calculator site is they put in the "System type" box that they have quad processors when really it is still a single processor with quad cores. :)

nope made that mistake once the wattage is correct and it is allowing for sli and no I dont currently have 2 ultras but im waiting for the next gens to be released then I will either go for one or get a second ultra when the prices drop.

The Antec Quattro certainly seems to fit what you're asking for. The Hiper 730w Type-R is also good but with only 2 pci-express connectors you'll be faffing about with adapters if you do finally go SLI. Other notables are the Thermaltake Toughpowers (Cablemanagement versions if you want modular), the Silverstone Decathlons and the Enermax Infinitis.

antec quatro is excellent i have one and has loads of connections etc dont go down the hyper road unless u want to be having to buy a new 1 every year if ** unlucky like me :(

Just to be clear, the 730w Type-R and 670w/730w Type-M Hipers are very good power supplies. Don't tarnish them with the unreliability of the lower wattage models.

Good choice anyway shifty :)

SilverStone Decathlon 750w.

60amps of single 12v rail goodness (better than split rails), modular and quiet. Make sure you're sent a revision 2.5 unit.
