Saturday night, ahem, "joke"

I am trying to aid efficiency, the goal of many people.
If you wish to aid or better yet achieve efficiency, a start might be to reduce your word count by a good 50% in each post.

Then you'll find people won't pick your posts apart so much. They might even ignore the abuse of parenthesis, because you wouldn't be the only person to do that :p

Where is this gathered from?

Basically, I type how I think. When I am typing a post I am thinking out each word in my mind. I naturally put the words into the brackets, it is something I do in my mind even when talking (however I do not use the brackets vocally).

I believe that becoming more efficient should be the goal of everyone, and thus I am aiding it. I am certainly not trying to "look clever" as this would not be the place to do that (I would chose a more academic forum/community [no offence to the Overclockers UK community]).

This is how I think, and thus this is how I type.

That post, efficiently, would have been :

Basically, I type how I think.

But you wrote five paragraphs of drivel instead

Verbosity is not necessarily inefficiency. Possibly my verbosity is causing some form of inefficiency, but this is something I would find very difficult to change (I am [by nature] verbose). I assure you that I am not some form of joke. I am a real person. :s

I typed it in that manner in order to increase the efficiency of the reader. I believe it makes sense without the brackets, and thus if the person does not have sufficient time to warrant reading a more detailed post, they can read the post without the brackets. With commas this is much more difficult to do as it requires one to read-ahead in a sense, and if one were to skip out all comma separated areas of text it might not make as much sense.

I can understand that in a document, or something that is likely to be read quickly, but on these forums it is far more likely for the reader to have enough time to read the whole post, and to do so. Therefore the introduction of brackets and fragmented sentences makes it more complicated to understand and requires a moments extra thought.

I like the verbosity, more "complicated" words often lend a far more specific meaning to what the speaker(writer) is trying to say. I use them in speech and it ****** other people off nearly as much as I get ****** of being given information in very generic terms.

*I just found out ctrl+i makes italics \o/ *

If you type how you think, it must take you absolutely bloody ages to do anything!

Were you brought up in some kind of retirement home manned by wannabe literature critics/Waterstones {read PHD English Graduates} Employees?

You're past verbose, you're outright pretentious.

I saw the original post that you edited to form this one.

Of course it is mere verbosity; I am talking about the complaints of my posts being several paragraphs when only a sentence would suffice (apparently).

I like the English Language (I am by no means an English scholar though [English is my worst subject]), and I am not going to "dumb-down" my posts in order to satisfy you, and other people.

I will mention this again: I type how I think.
