I'm using a Netgear DG834GT, but not keen on wireless. What type of network cable do I need to connect this to my PC?

Patch Cable or Crossover Patch Cable?

Most modern network cards will allow you to use any ethernet cable anyway. My crappy 2 quid one does. Or maybe it's the router that does the work (I have the same router).

Don't think thats right, you have patch/UDP cables for normal networking stuff and crossover for PC-PC.

I've always thought Patch is the generic term for a cable used to connect devices. So you can have a crossover patch cable or a straight through patch cable.

The DG834GT has auto sensing ports so you can use either type of cable you want really.

As mentioned before, crossover is used for connecting two PCs directly or for connecting switches together where no uplink port is present (an uplink port is nothing more than a port wired up crossed over).

I'd just use a cable wired up for straight through personally but it doesn't matter.
