What kind of easy meals can you suggest for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks?

I am a fussy eater and diet very limited.

For example:

Breakfast - Basic cereal or toast if I bother

Lunch - Sandwich, toastie or spaghetti on toast

Dinner - Chicken, chips, curry, burgers, generally frozen *****

Any suggestions? What kind of things do you eat?

Pasta with a homemade sauce for lunch or dinner, pretty cheap :) Spag bol is a really good one for dinner.

Easy?

Got any recipes?

I don't have any recipes to hand but I'm sure there's loads on google. You can make loads and then freeze it and microwave it when you want some, then you only need to cook the spaghetti (or just cook some other kind of pasta :)).

Chicken, new potatoes and peas/carrots is always a good meal :D

Put random flavourings on the chicken and see how it turns out.

You could also slice the chicken into strips and put them in a griddle with loads of chilli paste and chillis and everything. Very nice :D

Come on... recipe for spag bol??

Chopped red onion, garlic, mince, tom puree, tabasco sauce, Chestnut mushrooms.

Throw that lot in that order in decent sized medium hot, oiled, stir fry pan and cook for about 20 mins or so.

Boiling water with a dash of olive oil add enough pasta to suit, cook for approx 10 mins.

Learn how to stir-fry.
It's incredibly easy to do and gives you endless possibilities for meals..

e.g, simply:

1. Heat oil in a pan, add a chopped garlic clove and a chopped onion, fry until golden.
2. Add diced chicken breasts or whatever meat you fancy (you can even buy pre-diced meat if you're really lazy) and cook until browned.
3. Add selected veg and fry for a few mins - again many to choose from.
4. Add a sauce - you could have course buy these premade if you're a beginner and then as you get more confident cooking start making your own.
5. Simmer for a while until everythings cooked through, serve with rice, cous cous etc.

Plenty of resources on the internet to follow for ingredients etc.

Everyone does it different ;)

I think the OP needs to buy some sort of 'cooking for dummies' book. If one exists. Some sort of beginners book anyway. It seems a waste of time to post up a recipe in this thread considering [a] the OP is a fussy eater there's loads been posted in GD anyway and [c] the OP probably couldnt cook it anyway.

EDIT: As for a basic stir-fry, prawn and pea noodles is nice. The basics of a stir-fry are garlic and ginger. Fry those up with your meat/prawns/veg, cook your noodles. Refresh the noodles, add to the pan. Add a little chicken stock and reduce or add a little cornflour to thicken. Serve. No need for premade sauces.

Yeah, you are probably right. Maybe I should go to cooking lessons or something.

One of the main problems is I don't like vegetables.

aye... i know:p

What i was getting at, tho, was it really is just a case of 'suck it and see' i have made spag bol, stir fry's and lasagne dishes countless times and never the same twice.

I used to be almost scared of cooking but it really is a case of just giving it a bash

That kind of comment makes me really think i dont want to help. I honestly cant stand picky eaters. There are so, so many varieties of vegetables - to say that you 'dont like vegetables' is daft. Go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_vegetables and go through the list or something. There are so many different flavours, textures, colours, smells to try.

Not liking veg shouldnt stop you cooking anyway. a lot of recipes concentrate on the meat, especially pasta, curry, rice dishes, stir-fries etc..

Exactly. If you're just cooking for yourself you really cant go wrong. The only time you feel a bit of pressure is when you're cooking for family/friends/girlfriend etc.. so if it's just you on your own - go for it!

Get yourself a decent wok, it's probably one the most versatile pieces of cooking equipment you can own.

Steak
Beansprouts
Mushrooms (quartered)
Onion (roughly chopped)

Slice the steak into strips and cook it in a drop of olive oil. When done, place to one side and allow to rest. Pour some soy sauce into the wok, keeping the steak juices too, and throw in the onions and mushrooms. Give them a couple of minutes and then throw in the beansprouts and cook for a further minute or so. Just before it's done toss the steak back in and serve.

Chili is my favourite 'simple' meal, although it takes a while to cook. Spaghetti Bolognaise is also easy, as is pasta, or pasta bake.

I get all my recipes from the BBC food website.

My favourite quick stuff includes:

Fresh soup with bread (I get those plastic jars from Sainsburys, keep 'em in fridge, and just pour out however much I fancy)

Three boiled eggs with toast

Fresh pasta with spices, seasoning and groundnut oil (healthier and cheaper than olive oil, and not quite such an intense taste)

well not sure about easy, but I'm on curry tonight, should be interesting.

the easiest way to learn to cook is just try things, the mistakes will be funny, and probably horrible.

but you have the internet so can find millions of recipes

if you do start cooking regularly invest in a decent cooks knife
(and before the global, Shun, Seki, Porsche brigade turn up)

Victorinox fibrox handle knives are some of the most robust at a budget price.
£15 + VAT for their 10" cooks knife

Stir fry is nice and quick, as are most pasta dishes, curry/chilli and rice

casserole's are quick in that once prepped you can ignore for ages so dont take much time in that sense.

just pick ingredients you like and google for recipes.
