Hi all

Just after some info if anyone can help. I will be in my final year for my LLB law degree this year. I am considering doing my LPC after my degree in Canada in a canadian university like UBC.

What do i need and how do i got about finding out if i can do this?

ask in your uni, they could be able to point you in the right direction

or get an email address for the admissions off the canadian unis website

Id not bother with the Canadian high commission tbh, your better off emailing or getting in touch with the uni itself. Im sure they will be in a better position to help you...failing do try the Canadian High Commission...they might be able to help.

Their number is...020 7258 6600.

I figure that if i can get in it would be a hell of an experiance to go to Canada for a year and go to a uni outside of the country.

I might even practice there, they seem to pay so much more"!

Compared to the Uk especially London???...not really. Only reason why it seems so good, the pay is that standard of living there is a lot more cheaper than here.

But as a lawyer and a good one, you stand to make a lot of money in Canada. My lawyer in Canada does very very well for himself. Normal jobs ie not professional like doctors and lawyers dont pay that well.

It is not as cheap as you might imagine to live in Canada. Most get paid less when compared directly to us and the prices of day to day life are increasing all the time.

They are also suffering from a shortage of doctors because they are all moving to the US where the pay is considerably more.

Lawyers can do well anywhere, there is never a shortage of people wanting to sue others in any developed nation :p

cost of living the same

im just back from canada and its really a misconception that living there is cheaper. you get twice as many dollars for your pound but everything costs practically twice as much except the alcohol which is extravagently more. canada is amazing though, i am also wanting to go out and study there in my third year of uni. i found out about where i could study simply through my uni's website under their foreign study section. it listed all the unis that they had links with worldwide and how long i could study there for. i suggest you ask at your own uni first.

-edit- i went to vancouver, just like USA everything varies from province to province, for example British Columbia(Vancouver's province) has a lot more tax on products than its neighouring province of Alberta. im not sure what costs are like on the East coast.
