Quote from alan hansen...

"But to me, there is only one team that can challenge the top four and that is Tottenham - and they are struggling. Take Spurs out of the equation and you cannot come up any other serious challengers."

What is it with the bbc botting tottenham...

No disrespect to tottenham, but this season they are not the "only" team that could get in the top 4...

what about everton? why cant aston villa challenge? what if blackburn go on a big run?

dare i say even newcastle?

for football experts they are pretty clueless sometimes. Lawro is another one.

just a little rant

Lawro and Hansen been out of the game for too long IMHO... they don't have the contact as others within footy clubs to get the inside story. They should atleast make the Experts fun.. more Wrighty!!!

Paperwork and last season.

On paper Spurs have the best squad outside top four, they finished last season 5th and brought in better players, hence why Hansen has said what he has.

Are they really getting paid all that money for a "safe" view on it all...

yeh tottenham came 5th twice now.. does that mean they are a top 4 club all of a sudden?

newcastle came 2nd does that mean we are a premierleague winning side.. no.

outside man utd chelsea and liverpool... its anyones... regarding obviously the rubbish teams :p

so its anyones in a group of 3 or 4clubs

I always thought that Everton possibly over acheived a few years ago to get 4th spot - though this season, they could well do it again. I don't think they've got the depth in their squad - but their first team is pretty good!

Too slow at the back and the premiership is full of pace at the front. Really suffering with Cahill injured. If Arteta doesnt provide we struggle. I think Everton will finish 6th or 7th at best this year.

The only opening looks like being the amount of games being lost by the top 4. I think the teams at 3rd and 4th wont need to be as consistent this year.

Neither of them know anything. Lawro is anti everything thats not Liverpool. If you notice his predicitions on BBC its usually always a Liverpool 2-0 win. No matter how well any other team is playing they don't stand a chance.

Hansen is the same, a good player in his day, but now well out of the loop. Another one that annoys me is Andy Gray.

We need more people like Wrighty, no-one makes me laugh with their analysis on games than him. Although Jeff Stelling is entertaining on Soccer Saturday, especially when Hartlepool score.

Defensive analysis wise Hansen does know what he's talking about. The Principles of defending haven't changed and Hansen was a master of them.

Lawrenson makes a better commentator than a pundit though.

He's paid to give his opinion and that's what he does.
You'll never find a pundit who will please everyone.

That said, it does annoy me the way after EVERY SINGLE goal he comments on, he ALWAYS ends it with the phrase "and it's in the back of the net". Listen out for it next time on MOTD :)

Lawro is a **** and is hated by a lot of Liverpool fans.Hansen is spot one, Spurs have the best squad out there, they have the firepower, out of all the challengers for 5th/4th i can only really see they or Blackburn finishing their.Villa dont have enough upfront and Everton dont have the squad.

Agree to a point but with Lescott, Baines and Yobo at the back I think that we have a pretty young and agile defence, with the experience that Stubbs gives with organisation.

I think 5th might be possible, but like you said not a big squad at all... I think that Fernandes was a big loss for us, I was gutted when he didnt sign...

but we did get Yakubu... which I think was a great buy as he seems to be just an out and out striker (some people say too lazy to really run around) which is good as Johnson covers a lot of the pitch. I think that its going to be a great partnership...
