Sooo... finished Bioshock in 2 sittings

I completed it once and watched the other ending on youtube. Not worth playing through again just to see a different video clip if I'm honest. Infact it feels pretty lazy of the developers. Great game though just zero replay value.

I have to say Dark Messiah and Prey were far better than Bioshock all round.

On another note I actually finished HL2 yesterday. Ending was great.

I dont use any plasmids or guns. I ran out of ammo on the forest level. Level 3, I think. So I used the tonics for the wrench and speed, plus the electric shock when you get hit. Later added the tonic where you become invisible when you stop moving.

I've done everything since with just the wrench, easily. Even before I rarely used the plasmids other than a bit of electric bolt. I dont buy any of them. I'd rather be able to dual wrench wield :D One whack of the wrench I'm killing just about everything except daddies.

Pointless using any of the eve or health upgrades as there's no penalty for dieing anyway.

well no wonder you found the game dull and lacking replay value if you ignore 90% of the content, its like saying you'll play half life with just the crow bar!

No I used the guns through the early parts but then saw they were unneeded and pointless. Quicker with the wrench. The plasmids are largely useless too.

It lacks replay because another run through adds nothing. Why use guns when like me your an efficient killing machine with the wrench :p

because this isn't a run and (in your case, hit) game, sure they could have forced you to use a certain weapon for each level but they choose not to lead you completely by the hand. And saying the plasmids are useless is just ridiculous, just because you dont HAVE to use them why would you not want to? whats more fun? rushing throughy the game bopping every single enemy on the head with a wrench or trying out different stuff? sticking a mine onto a trash can then using telekinesis to hurl it at an enemy, or distracting an enemy with the hologram thingy then sneaking up behind them at shotgunning there behind, or setting up a tripwire near some water, setting an enemy on fire with incinerate or the chemical thrower and watching him clothesline himself on the trap?
 
I didnt like the fact that all of the little sisters were white.. i dont think i saw a black little sister and i thought hey.. why are they preying on just the white children.. racisms!

lol, they were toeing the line with the killing ('harvesting' makes it sound better) of innocent little girls (even if they didn't show anything) put black girls in it and the daily mail would have had a field day :p

I see your point but I couldn't be ******. The first couple of times it's fun, on the later levels there are so many splicers it's quicker to whack them and keep moving. For me its become like dead rising, as I'm walking somewhere something blocks my path and I batter it.

On the theatre level they just keep re-spawning as i'm exploring rooms. Theres only so long you can mince about with traps etc.

I agree, I don't think it's better than the darkness. I'd be amazed if it gets GOTY. 2 months from now no-one will be talking about bioshock.
 
I will be, its easily GOTY material and by far the best game so far this year. I loved The Darkness but this really blows it out of the water. Personally I think GOTY for me is going to be Skate, it seems to be the most innovative game this year and if you like that sort of thing it just feels so RIGHT!
 
Not sure if it's GOTY material either, one of the best PC games I've played in a long time though. Think when Mario Galaxy hits it sounds like that may take some beating (please don't hurt me lol) although it's hard to judge when there are 3 months to go.
 
Im still not sure if Im gonna get bioshock, Ive not tried the darkness yet but I might buy graw 2 since I loved the first one and have time to play it now.

GOTY goes to mass effect, no way will it go to bioshock or even halo3, or crysis or cod 4 or haze (notice the pattern)

Precisely. Before bioshock was released everyone was saying it was the best game ever, yet all those predictions (pretty much stated as fact!) fell flat on their faces.

have you actually been here http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/bioshock#critics, it took me 4 mouse scrolls just to get past the 100% reveiws, you may not think this game is the dog dangles but many will diagree with you including myself, if anything has fallen flat on it's face it's the people that said this game would never make it into the top ten most highly ranked games, it's only 1 place behind GE at the moment with 58 reviews, it's up there with the big boys.
 
well i guess im about half way through and totally fed up with it tbh. So if someone could spoilerise the story for me as i'll probably be trading it in at the weekend.

yes I agree SC1 shouldn't really be there but the thing is many of those classic highly rated games really don't have that many reviews compared to todays games, actually it would be interesting to ponder if those very highly rated classics had of been reviewed by 90+ reviewers like Halo/RE4/HL2 if they would have still made it to such a high position on the chart, I'm not sure they would have done tbh but then I could be wrong (I know it would have been hard for games like GE to of been reviewed 100+ times due to lack of reputable reviewer/sources at the time but I'm just hypothesizing), I just feel games like RE4 that have been reviewed 106 times with an average score of 95.8 beats Ocarina of Time easy even with its average score of 97.7 because it was only reviewed 32 times, I think it's a fair system provided the games have been reviewed enough times by respectable reviewers to enable you gain a reliable mean/average score which I believe games like I stated above (Halo/RE4/HL2) have been, and I can confidently say that they deserve their rating and Bioshock is on it's way to gaining it's respect to with 52 reviews already and growing with an average score of 95.8, it definitly deserves to be in the top 10 that I'm sure of.
