unlocking 4 gigs in windows xp 32

Not possible. It is due to the O/S being 32-bit. 32-bit apps running on a 64-bit O/S can't use all that RAM either.

Ive had this same agument, people insisting they have put 4GB in the machine and its been recognised fine.

You need PAE drivers for that. Which are less common then x64...

That article is "Windows Server 2003 and in Windows 2000"

These two are 'Server' OS's.
