How much a month/year for Xbox "live"?

As title. my son wants me to get an xbox wireless adapter for his console so he can go online, but I'm curious to know how much doing this is gonna cost me per month/year.
Can anyone let me know?

Well the RRP of the Adaptor is £59.99 and the RRP of the Gold service, so you can play games online is £39.99.

However they can be had for cheaper online...although I've never seen them for as cheap as £13

Will set you back £40 for the whole yr of xbox live unless you can find a voucher for a cheaper price.
 
Remeber picking up a copy of Splinter Cell PA with a Headset and 1 year subscription for about 19-20£. i already had the game but i already broke my headset and needed a subscription so snapped that straight up

Got it for £13 :)
Just stated I lived at a US address(when regestering the subscription) and bought a USA code :D. Fleebay was my friend. If you want the the place I got it from my msn is in my profile :)

Edit: It's only supposed to work for new accounts though. So you would have to make a new one. Ide rather that than pay an extra £27 my self :)
