My new specs:

E6750 @ 2.66Ghz
Asus P5B motherboard 965P
2gb DDR2 800 Ram
Image 421-BB Case
7300LE Card (Dire Card)
2 x 320gb Maxtor HDD's
1 x DVD-RW Drive
53-in-1 card reader
PSI 550 WATT PSU

+12V - 24A MAX :is this enough power or should I consider getting a 8600gts
+5V - 40A MAX

+3.3V - 32A MAX
-5A - 0.5A MAX
-12A - 1.0A MAX

Also does the 8800gts need to be plugged into the PSU through a molex connector? or do you just plug it in the PCIE socket no need for anything else.

That PSU will struggle, buy a beefier one with around 40A spread over the 12v rail. I reccommend the Corsair HX520.

It needs a 6pin PCI-E plug. Who is PSI? If that is a cheapo psu that came with the case i would seriously consider getting a decent branded psu as well.

Would the 8800gts run fine at default speeds with no overclocking, or would
I be pushing it still. Hate to buy another PSU, I just bought the PC system on Saturday.

Well the PSU is arguably the most important component in your system, so if you want to risk £100's of pounds of computer hardware simply for the sake of buying a new £50 PSU of high quality then be my guest... but I know what's i'd do...

Right I'll buy a Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU and the BGF 8800GTS to go with it. Thats all my Birthday expenses gone then.;)

8800gts ac3 running fine on 430w seasonic s12 although it does state combined +12v rails have 29a :) dont know what quality of a psi psu is like though :o

I ran an overclocked 8800gts 640mb on an enermax 485w noisetaker with absolutely no probs whatsoever. I'd have thought any "quality" psu around 500w would cope with one of those. A GTX, however might give a 500w psu a hard time, especially when overclocking.

your 485w enermax has got probably 2 12v rails with around 18a on each one which does work out to be more than the OP's 24a 12v rail.

Thats what I was implying with respect to a "quality" psu, always get a decent psu, not a budget item, you could pay dearly in the long run. and you're right, it has got 2 x 12v rails with 18amps per rail.
