I am now the proud new owner of a 2007 Ford Focus ST-3. Most of you generally know about these so I won't go into too much detail about the spec of the car but must say I really like it.
It's a bit different to the BMW 130i in the way that it handles and delivers the power but it's certainly as good in my opinion (in some areas even better) and build quality is brilliant (easily as good as the 1 Series). Personally I think it feels slightly quicker due to the Turbo whereas the Beemer was N/A but on the speedo it is probably a fraction slower. Give it a couple of weeks and the 270BHP remap will no doubt be on there though. :D

Here's the pics anyway:D

Lovely car, congratulations. ;)

Is 270BHP in a FWD car really going to be usable though?

I can see you sitting in a cloud of your own tyre smoke at the traffic lights. :p

Brilliant car though.

:)

Hi m8

Car looks fantastic and thanks for the test drive. :)
Very impressed by the fact its practically new and only cost you 15k. :)

Nice colour

Does this mean you might beat me to the pub now? :D

I wish. The beemer had about a 5cm advantage pulling off the roundabout against the Porsche and then it was a blip in the mirror. :(. What a car to lose to though

Looks great - I'd definitely fancy one :)

What size engine is sitting under the bonnet?

2.5 Straight 5 with Turbo

Wow that actually looks quite nice in blue, the orange version looks horrible.

So when can we expect the, I've just been given an ASBO for doing 108mph though a car park.

Nice car, really love the colour, couple of questions :

- The front brakes look pants for the power the car has, 4 pots?

- Typical ford HU also looks a little naff, can it be changed?

Otherwise spot on :)

Give it a couple of days.:D:p

4 Pots with 320mm discs. They are surprisingly powerful. Better than the BMW was by a mile.

I agree that it looks a little naff but I'm reluctant to change it because it has the built-in Bluetooth handsfree and the sound quality is actually really good too. It could be changed in the future but it is a new design for the later 2007 cars so nobody does any facia adapters at the moment.

I like it

First one I've seen with climate too

The Climate is far better than BMW and the Air Con gets colder far quicker than the BMW did.

Gah, loose those cheap Halfords mats and get proper Ford ones in there!

Looks lovely though :D

Nothing a trip to the Ford dealer can't sort.

Looks very nice.

Apart from the mats

I also don't like the way manufacturers coat the engine bay in plastic.. I want to see stuff spinning! :D

Hi there

It amazes me all to often how people assume that having more pots means better performing brakes. Yes generally it does but is not always the case.

After driving the ST the brakes are very good and more than ample for a car of this power. Yes I believe they are 4 pots up front.

However to put things in comparison the Mustang as standard which was a heavier more powerful car only had 2 pot brakes and apart from fade they were even better. However the upgrade to 4 pots, larger disc and performance pads made them simply amazing, even much better than those on the CSL.

The headunit looks fine in the fresh, blends with the car well and the sound quality seems fine. I am sure Slackworth has got his latest hardcore anthems in the car anyway, gotta admit his burberry cap is very stylish too. :D

Main thing is the disks looked small and they looked like off the shelf ford calipers, which got me thinking about what they stop like, but they sound very good!

*Must be the size of the wheels... ;)
