Hola all :)

Currently have a 8800GTS 320MB OC and a Dell 2407WFP-HC monitor and am considering as to whether it'd be worth me selling the 8800GTs OC and purchasing the 8800GTX for £300.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, but when I do play I like to crank everything up to the max. I enjoy driving stuff, am a big Flight Sim X fan, love stuff like Civilization etc and of course, have a dabble with the obligatory FPS-type games.

So I'm wondering is it worth jumping ship now to the 8800GTX so I can play at full wack at native res on my 2407? Or wait until the new cards appear in November?

Cheers for any kind advice chaps and chapesses :)

You have a very good card at the moment so surely you can hold on til the next wave hits? I expect you could play all games out now (and before november) at high settings anyway, so in your case it would be wise to wait and see what happens with the new cards when they hit.
Buuuuuuut if you really have to?....... You won't be dissapointed the GTX's rock m8!:D

Why wait? Buy it now and play everything at full for the next three months or so then ebay it and you shouldn't lose much at. You've had three months worth of gaming n fun, well worth it :).

This makes sense. However a 320 MB GTS is more than enoughfor the next few months

I sold my GTX and then got a GTS 320 MB as I wasnt playing any games at the time.

Now I fancy gaming again and playing bioshock.

So just bought a 640 GTS for 206 and will use that until november.

two weeks before the G92 ill ebay it and probalby lose about 50.

roughly £16 month for some top end gaming.

I just still find that impossible to belive, but will see in 2 months time. I think I wont chance it and get another GTX for 300 quid and then sell it for £250 in 2-3 months time. I dont like waiting around cos if Nvidia dont bother with no 9800GTX dont wanna be not ready for that months game titles !

Its looking more and more like the 8800Ultra is still going to be the Big Daddy (stole this name from other thread lol) till 2008, the card in Nov are again claiming to be non high end and possibly still 384bit.

I did read Nvidia will hold of a 9800Ultra after releasing a 9800GTX, and then release it after ATI launch (FEB 2008 ?)

There is at least 2 peeps who know their stuff in this forum who both are getting 8800Ultras next week or so, they would not if they thought a high end card was due in 8weeks.
