I'm sorry to start another thread similar to the "house party" one but I don't really want to get the two mixed up.

Can anyone suggest some electronica belters? Songs which sound amazing loud. Examples would be Loops of Fury - Chemical Brothers, Afrika Shox - Leftfield, Voodoo People (Pendulum Mix) - The Prodigy

I'm talking about a specific genre though. I already know loads about trance so I'm really looking for songs similar to the ones mentioned above.

I'm only interested in tracks which literally blow you away when turned right up.

Cheers

Just dug up these AWESOME tunes...

Absurb (Whitewash Mix) - Fluke
Dragula (Hot Rod Herman Remix) - Rob Zombie

From Sin City and the Matrix respectively

Not sure if these are considered more trance than electronica (I've always struggled to differentiate the two, to be honest) but these ones spring to mind...

The Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia
Il Caesar - La Musica Electronica 2001
Blank & Jones - DJs, Fans and Freaks
Above & Beyond - No One on Earth (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
BT - Flaming June
Binary Finary - 1998
Faithless - Insomnia

They like to make it difficult. Electronica is basically Electronic music that is geared more for listening to rather than dancing to. How you categorize what is better for dancing or listening to can be very difficult and I would think a matter of personal opinion. In my opinion, trance would be something more for dancing to as I don't particularily care for the music (I'm a breaks fan myself).. but I know lots of people who absolutely love listening to trance.

Also, depending on who you talk to, some people completely ignore the definition above and just consider Electronica to be another word for Electronic Music. Electronic Music = all genres and subgenres of dance music such as breaks, trance, house, DnB, Ambient, Techno, etc. etc.

If you like your Electro, try anything by Justice, Simian Mobile Disco or Digitalism all brillant stuff and has really got hold of me at the moment.

so what exactly is breaks?

When I said "electronica" I meant tracks you dance to that are played in clubs. Artists like Leftfield, Daft Punk, Prodigy, Chemcial Bros etc

Breaks = breakbeats and it's pretty much as it describes, the beats are broken. You can see it more clearly visually:

Simple as that really

Ah, I see. Thanks for explaining that!

Just discovered Midnight Sun (Divini & Warning Mix) - Roy Gates which is exactly the sort of sound I'm looking for. Any songs like this please reccommend them! cheers

see if you can obtain any of the swedish mafia house (axwell, ingrossoo and angello) sets from global or creamfields this year. would be decent for a house party but you like for all decent tunes you need a decent bass'y system.

Various tunes by Crystal Method.

K Complex's techno version of Barber's Adagio. (Might be a bit too racey for you though. :p)
Out of the Blue by System F.
