Hi chaps.

Been putting this off for ages, but i want to upgrade now :p

I'll be needing:

Motherboard
CPU
RAM
Graphics Card

Will my Seasonic S12 430w be up to the job these days? If not, i'll need a new PSU too.

Thanks for ideas :)

I would also consider getting another £30 together to buy an aftermarket cooler and possibly £70 for a Corsair 520W PSU just to be safe.

Roughly 425W is the recommended for a GTS while 475W for GTX

What's the main use e.g. gaming, etc?

All round...

Hope the Ninja will fit :)

The Seasonic would be fine with a GTS, a GTX would be really pushing it though, as you use a 19 inch screen you're unlikely to need more than a GTS and I doubt you will put a quad core to good use.

My suggestion would be to get a core 2 duo, 8800GTS and save around £100 for a new case, monitor, speakers (whatever you may want).

Sub Total : £359.95

Total = £422.94

Will be used for mosty for gaming. I'm upgrading from an X1800XT, and a 3700SD @ 2.8.

Want a bit more grunt :D Once i've made the change to C2D, then any upgrades in the future will be relatively cheap.

Just gotta sort out my monies now :p

not yet any need for quad, this would probably be the best

why upgrade from the x1800XT at the moment, with nvidia hopefully releasing their next card in the near future is there anything it cant currently do ?

Agree with above ^^. Try hold on until next gen DX10 (10.1  ) cards are out. That way you have more to spend on CPU or mobo or HSF, etc :)

Change the gfx for an 8800 GTS 640MB, get a corsair 520W PSU, and I think it comes in on budget

Ok, i suppose i can stay with the x1800xt for now. That leaves £150 extra for some tweaking :).

Any ideas? £400-£500 for the cpu, mobo and ram. I can get other bits later.

For the CPU, to me anyway, its only worth getting a E2160 or a Q6600 for gaming as a E2160 will overclock to 3-3.2GHz fairly comfortably, the less cache hardly has an impact on games and costs £50, or a Q6600 which for the price you cant go wrong.
