I'll say!
Who'd have thought Dafoe's character would mock the Vietcong by cartwheeling around the battlefield.

great film ,and yeah its dafoe.

apoc now was boring for me, dont know why, i liked the start, then it just got stupid and turned into some weird film with marlon brando's character being a king of a tribe lol :p

Let me guess - you like Apoc. Now?
I can never remember whether or not i've seen it all the way through, so i guess it didnt affect me that much if i had!

I just didnt like Platoon. It was dull, boring, i didnt relate or get to know any of the characters and half the time didnt really follow what was going on. Each to their own, i might give it another shot sometime in the future but i really have no inclination to do so. Heck, i'd probably sooner watch Troy again. Actually, lol no i wouldnt.

I find Scarface very similar in that respect. Everyone bums it and I was left completely underwhelmed.

I find that people are like that with the Godfather as well. For some reason you get all these football hooligans claiming it to be the best film ever, yet when you quiz em on it they can only remember certain set pieces, such as the horses head.

They don't have the intelligence to appreciate excellent direction, cinematography etc, so I think they say they like it just for the sake of it. Same with Apocalypse Now and Scarface.

I do like certain things about Apocalypse Now but the film is a big mess. Watching "Hearts Of Darkness - The Making Of Apocalypse Now" makes one wonder what the hell they were thinking of when they started filming without any idea of a plot for the film.

As for Scarface, I just don't know what Pacino was thinking. His portrayal of Tony Montana was the worst acting I've ever seen.

But Platoon...

That film is just about perfect.
