Randomly exciting thing for me that maybe half a dozen people will 'get'

Then why do some of my follicles grow in a strange direction and have done since I had dreadlocks about eight years ago?

Hairstyles can't change follicles, eh...?

Pulling the follicles via dreadlocks is very different from the basic haircuts you were ranting about. Stop being a fool.

Hair can't tell its been cut and it doesn't grow back thicker of with any different properties other than the fact that you have lopped off the tapered end leaving a flat surface. The follicles remain exactly the same and in time the hair will taper again.

i think the thicker part was aimed at shaving.

What will it do, make you look like even more of a ******?
Odd, that... I thought personal attacks were forbidden on here...

Give you another way of showing off to people on the internet? Make you feel good inside knowing you've wasted your money and destroyed a part of the body in the process.

Firstly, it is my money which I have earned and which I will spend in any way which I see fit.

Secondly, I am not destroying anything. I am adding to my body.

As for showing off to people on the internet.... If that were my intent then why, when a forum is full of such open, accepting and lovable people such as yourself, would one make a thread such this?

do you all think its pointless getting your ears or some other body part pierced completly pointless as well then...most women have their ears pierced nowadays, that is only body modification just not on such a lagre scale as tattooing/scarification, they have paid for it doing as they want it doing themselves

I don't think any of its pointless. I think if you like it do it. What I do think though is the original poster's arguments are pathetic.

Penski, genuine question - what attracts you to it? Although I'm perfectly happy for you to do what you want, I personally can't quite understand why people would want lumps or scars over their body. What's the motivation?

I love some people's responses though. Typical observer discomfort (AS Psychology baby!)

looks disgusting, cant see why anyone would want to do that to themselves, and shaving and scaring are slightly different dont ya think? hair cuts and shaving a a type of grooming, and scaring is just a mess after cutting yourself up.

edit: edited chaving to shaving lewl

I find some applications of body modification to the human body aesthetically and physically pleasing.

Perhaps I should have used the term 'style' instead of 'cut' when I made the hair reference. I maintain that the principle is the same (that of changing that which nature has provided) but the difference is one of scale.

I think that most people's XOMGZX!!! NOOO! response stems from a fear of admitting that they do something for the same reason as I have ink in my skin, metal in my penis and scars on my body.

It took a few attempts to read that one...Have you tried typing posts in Word to check your grammar before posting them?

I don't think my beard has scared anyone...

Odd is the first thing that come into mind,

I wouldnt have it done myslef - but each to their own... bit of a wounder (no pun intended) when you have some gopping scars and metal things sticking out of you and you realise it was a mistake... how many people go off thier tatoos? i dont like a few of mine, but im not horrificly scarred or anything.

like i say if you want to , who are we to say no, your choice and your body.

Does it make the alarms go off at air port security?

If so do you have to whip out your dong to assure them it's not a gun?

Could you have sufficient metal placed in your penis to make it function as a gun?

The questions are endless

Post pics of (NOT YOUR PENIS) what you've had done :)

When a man is obsessed with guns and wangs he has bigger issues than I...

I only have one bit of titanium in it at the moment...everything else is PTFE or acrylic.

It takes a LOT of metal to set of airport detectors...Although the hand-held ones have beeped at me once. Slightly embarrassing as I was with my mum at the time.

That's fair enough. Although I can understand the appeal with tattoos as some are very aesthetic, I personally just don't find either scaring (I know you've said you're not going in for this) or those lump thingies particularly attractive at all! It seems to cross the line from art (subjective term, I know) to plain mutilation. To most people I would imagine, tattoos are instantly recognised for what they are, but implants would be perceived as some form of abnormality. I guess there is still a huge social stigma regarding the latter, whether this is societal or deep routed in our brains (i.e. "avoid the weirdo") remains unknown.
