Well, we've finally bought a new 2nd hand car.

Sadly its not a rally rep or rocket ship estate (although it is within the VAG family)

2000 Seat Leon 1.9 TDI S 90HP. Silver

80K, 3 owners and full dealer history. Bought it for £3K and got 6 months tax thrown in. Quite a good deal IMHO. Quick trader search and theres not a diesel for under 3K. If it wasn't for the mobile hair we wouldn't have had to get diesel but she does rack up the miles quite quickly over a small area and our trusty old golf isn't up to it.

It does nothing very exciting but will do my wife for the hair and our quartely commute up north.

My car get put on back burner for a few months now

lol, after all those threads about wanting different cars. I would say enjoy it but.....its not exactly an Integrale or a bug eye :(

I've had to buy it for Mrs Eddscott which means my toy budget is down 3K. The hairdressing is taking its toll on the only car we have right now and being petrol it was costing her too much in fuel.

She'll pay it back shortly so the hunt for my toy will be back on. :)

All these threads about all these good cars you were looking at and you bought a 90bhp Leon

What would you have brought then? Economical, suitable for family of 3, reliable and capable of being acceptable for a woman? After driving over 700 miles this weekend, I started to like the rental Mondeo but she wasn't having any of it.

Its not even my name going on the reg docs. All I own is a dog eared Golf driver.

Toledo TDi instead with a more powerful engine, more kit.

You might be right, although I doubt she'd like the boot of a Toledo. It will do for what we want and its not a bad price. The dealer is a client so I've got a good business relationship with him.

Not happy with having to put my car on hold but we really needed to get a decent day to day vehicle first. As it goes, I could do with stepping back a bit regarding my car as the first drive of the Integrale put me off a bit.

I have a '54 plate Leon TDI S 90. Had it since new and although as standard its very slow, it has been a comfy car and hasnt let me down much at all. Its been thrashed from day one, never run in, and still drives like new after 100k miles.

I would definately recommend one in this kind of situation, although i must say i would have got one with more kit.
