Looking for a Family Holiday With Family Check This Out!!!

A seal walked into a club......

Joking aside, it is pretty horrific but it is the same thing as killing rabbits / pigeons etc that are deemed 'pests'

Big deal, you can go on hunting trips in this country already, shooting things like pheasant, pigeons etc. Just because they're "cute" shouldn't make you any more OUTRAGED.

me personally got no probs with killing a cow pig or whatever if food source but taking kids along with the club seems a bit

This is just another one of those out of context problems. As they say, the Norweigian government considers seals to be a pest, it is their right to exterminate them on their own territories.

As for the whole clubbing thing.. contrary to popular belief, it is far more humane to club a seal to death, than to shoot it. If you are going to shoot a seal, odds are, you will not cause an instant death, the seal is likely to slip under the water and drown. This is something that is brought up time and again in Canada, where seals are also a problem, and very real threat to the fishing industry.

If seals weren't considered to be "cute" people really wouldn't have a problem.. how was it the Denis Leary put it about lining the animals up?

"And what are you?"
"I'm an otter?"
"what do you do?"
"I do cute little human things with my hands"
"okay, you can go"

"What are you?"
"I'm a cow"
"Get in the truck, you're a cheeseburger!"

When they say "For about £110 amateur hunters will be offered a day out and one seal."
Does that mean the seal is yours after you shoot it or just that you're allowed to shoot one seal. If it's mine I'd want it stuffed and mounted on my wall :D

Customs may not like bringing it back though.

Sounds like a great idea to me. They cull them anyway, so why not make money. Some offus would love to try hunting as well. Get back to our grass routes and all.
