Why? Hes probably been doing that all his life (assuming he isn't a tourist which I doubt he is). Killing an animal with a club like that seems very cruel, but I would imagine its very effective. You can see the power he is putting into the swing, so it will die with the first blow.

Why is this so bad, but killing a cow isn't?

So long as they kill them humanely I don't have problems with it. I'm sure your local mince meat isn't produced by some family clubbing a cow to death.
