Do you buy at full retail or wait for a price drop?

When the 360 first came out if you saw a game for £35 then it was cheap, now games can be had for as little as a tenner.

I've found that I'm now more inclined to wait for a game to hit the £20>£25 mark before going for it, I've also started buying up games when I see them cheap even when I know I'm not going to get round to playing them for some time.

Without meaning to I've also ended up making a profit on a couple of games. GOW for example which I picked up for £17.99 I just sold for £23 inc. p&p :p

The only downside I've found is online play. If your 6 months behind the times the people that are still playing the game online are the real hardcore. All the casual gamers seem to have moved on which makes it difficut ofr me to get into them online sometimes. For the amount of time I spend playing online and the types of game that I play online (Flatout etc.) this isn't a huge problem.

Just wondering how many of you do the same or is it still a case of getting things the day they are released?

full price?! ye must be joking!

id import or wait, or ebay before it came to that.

cant even think of the last time i paid full rrp for a game, or infact anything

If it's a big game like Halo 3 I'll buy on release but other games like Flatout which are still good i'll wait for a price drop or buy S/H. I picked up some real bargins like Just cause for £9.99 brand new. I find the AVForums very usefull for tracking down bargains :)

the only game i bought for £40 was forza 2, as i wanted that the day it came out.

all the others i import for about £25 each

i buy a lot of games on release recently. A lot of stuff like burnout revenge/viva pinata i waited until it was under 20 quid though.

Yeah I just ordered Just Cause for just under £9, the demo was good but didn't make me think "wow" thought for less than a tenner it was worth a punt.

I tend to keep an eye on hot uk deals. Damn that sites cost me some money over the last year or so :o

Don't by many things at full high street price anymore, at most is internet prices. Even my Wii I only paid £160 new.

I buy them at £40 normally charged by interweb retailers. The price doesn't bother me that much if its for a good game.

Most i've paid is 32.99 for bioshock. Normally they can be had and delivered for launch around that price. Of course there's quidco on that as well.

Lots of times I wait a week and pick up second hand off the people that hate the game.

For games I like and I'm anticipating I pay around £30-35 on release, if it's a title I like a bit but it's single player only I'll wait till it's £15-20 Last title i bought was bioshock for ~30 and I've preordered halo 3 collectors for 40 or 45. I don't actually pay all the money though as I split the price for most games with my 2 brothers.

I usually just pay full price, price isn't an issue for me when buying games.

Either I want a game and I'll get it as soon as possible, or I don't and I wouldn't buy it even if it was only a fiver.

GRAW 2 is the only game I can recall where I've gone against this, I didn't buy it at launch out of principle (It's essentially GRAW 1.5, only shorter) so despite wanting it, I decided straight away to wait until I could get it for at least half the original cost.

WAIT :D

no point in paying full prices unless your really bored and MUST play that game

my mates cant grasp this, they wonder where all their money goes when they have all these games a couple of years later games shops are offering negligible amounts for

i plan to do this with bioshock, id like to play it, but it doesnt really bother me, with all the hype its going to sell buckets, with all the talk its easy and can be completed within a few hours, im waiting for said buckets to flood the second hand market, you can already get it for 25 quid a couple of weeks after release, in a month itll be 20 quid then 15 hopefully not too far after, which is where GOW is now, after that the depreciation will still happen but it will be far less, can probably buy GOW for 15 now and sell it for 15 once you complete it in a month! like already said ;)

I don't like the idea of paying almost £50 for a game, so usually shop around or wait.

Scort.

Depends on the game, if its a game i really want then ill pre order on line (normally arrives early), if its a game im not that bothered about Id rent it out. You sometimes seem games cheaper on release than after a couple of weeks. Not sure about the rest, but Sony platinum range was made at first for million plus sellers that had been out over a year. Theres been a few games (PS3) that I'd got online from the states cheaper than here and normally they get them first.

For me it's longivity in a game so multiplayer is must.
I don't mind buying on day of release if that's the case otherwise I wait a few months.

I generally rent most of my games.
If it comes to buying I get a staff discount from my friend who got her job back, or if I really can't wait, I pay full price from an online retailer.
