VW will be releasing a new Golf MK6 next year. 2 years earlier than planned as they found MK5 expensive and complicated to build. I thought that was odd as I heard the quality of interior is lower than the previous model!

So here's the link to MK6. Sorry, it's german but there are plenty of sources via google to confirm that it will be out in 2008.

Interesting. Could do with a bit of tweaking aesthetically, but not too bad.

I'm wondering what the rushed to get it out 2 years earlier though? ;)

Unless it's baloney? :p

i think im correct in saying that VW have been quick to replace the current gen golf as it has proved a hideously expensive car to manufacture. The new car has been designed to massively reduce these costs.

That doesn't sound good tbh, hopefully it won't be too compromised.
You'd have thought they would have worked out how much the MK5 would have cost before they made a shed load of them.

I see VW are going to con buyers of the Estate just like they did buyers of the Mk4 Cabrio.

Estate will remain a Mk5 and will remain in production after the Mk6 comes out. Just as a 2003 Mk4 Golf Cabrio is actually a Mk3 with different headlights. Even has a crappy Mk3 interior. For a new price of £18k.

Looks very Manga, but I quite like it. The current one looks ok, but the next one is a little nicer.

Just realised that my link to thread which was posted in 2006. Here's a couple of updated pictures:

I really like that, I was majorly turned off by the MK5, it's just such a bulbous looking car, especially the back end.
The R32 was dissapointingly slow and gutless too.

R32 slow! Are you sure you weren't driving a 1.4 with an R32 bodykit? :D :p

It may not have anything on the S3 but I can't see how you'd describe it as slow. I agree with the Golfs looking bulbous though. The front end looks stunning, but the rear is just a fat ass.

Its never gonna be quick with the 4wd setup. It should be quicker considering the size of the engine.

I like the MK6 the GTI might be out in time for my next upgrade:)
