I was watching the E3 conferenece for MS and the Hi Defintion stuff they said was already on the US marketplace was cool, Dinsey Studios plus loads of others great films and tv shows, I think it would be great to have an elite, you wont need a Hi Def player just download and watch on your Hi Def TV and Elite.

I think its a great idea. £300 for a Elite that does games and Hi Def movies, bargain.

Xbox LIVE Marketplace content is available to all Xbox 360 owners. High-definition new-release movie rentals are 480 Microsoft® Points each

its the future imo. downloaded video on demand. pay as you watch.

I go into HMV most lunch times and people swarm around the DVD section where you can get a movie for £3. No one is looking at the HD disc section. That new edie murphy film is £30 on Bluray!!!!

Yeah I am on 20Meg Virgin cable so I can download 9gig in about 2 hours, so its as quick as nipping to town, even better if you can play the start while downloading the rest of the film.

bt vision is a step in the right direction, although its not HD.

i hope MS do something by the end of the year or next.

Will probably get an elite but am waiting for the 65nm models to come out then ill buy one...probably sell the original premium or give it to my cousin...

Market place with its video downloads was good value but damn it was so slow. I had a USA account before they banned the content and downloaded 3x movies which stay on your harddrive for approx 10 days? cant remember exactly but guys 9+ hours to download a movie (via 8mb) prob because the BW is so limited.

Recent reports are that the CPU is only getting the 65nm not the GPU which is still seen as the Ring Of Death culprit. The reason for the 65nm tech is its cheaper to manufacturer more than it is as a solution for overheating.

i dont even see why its a big issue because they will replace your console during 3 years of ownership if it goes wrong.

Is the Elite going to support the IPTV stuff, as if so that would seriously tempt me. Shame its black :(

That's what's slightly worrying me in my purchase in the elite. I don't want them bringing out another SKU which can do IPTV and the rest can't. I'm not clued up on IPTV. I don't know how fast broadband you need. But I just want something like Joost.

Over at Tina Woods blog there was a interview with one of the guys from MS and they were showing off IPTV and they talked about it. I cant find the damn video because of their crappy search

Not sure if any of you have seen this:

http://www.iptv-watch.co.uk/10082007-iptv-coming-to-xbox-360.html

British Telecom has joined with Microsoft in a deal which should bring IPTV to the Xbox 360 before the end of the year.

Under the terms of the agreement, only subscribers to BT will have access to the IPTV services, which Microsoft currently powers through BT Vision.

The contract builds on an existing close relationship between the two companies - BT Vision is currently delivered via Microsoft’s Mediaroom software.

By offering IPTV through a partnership with Microsoft, BT will be in a position to buy Xbox 360s direct from Microsoft. It could then provide the games console fully equipped for IPTV - eliminating the need for an additional set-top-box.

The deal with Microsoft is in line with BT’s strategy to target the online gaming market for its BT Total Broadband service.

It's all happening sooner than you think...

The elite has another heat sink on the gpu which is supposed to solve the problem.
I have noticed on a lot of forums that they are not now reporting loads of three red ring deaths.
So maybe its working.
I got an elite last week after trading in my core system with the h/drive and find the elite to be a lot less noisy.
The one i got has the latest cooling fans and a benq dvd drive.
