Hi,
Was about to sort of get back into airsoft and on airsoft armoury - http://www.airsoftarmoury.com/ - it says October 1st is the VCR Bill Enforcement (which i remember from a few years ago is a new law banning imitation weapons). Tried to google for an exact answer, but still not 100% sure what the legality of playing airsoft & buying guns will be after oct 1st. Anyone know?

Thanks :)

if it goes ahead, it will simply ban the sale of new guns. But it wont make the sport or sale of 2nd hand guns illegal.

That's what I've heard so may not be entirely correct.

i think acid hell is correct, but it may also encompass the sale of second hand weapons aswell

but the vcr does give pardon to people whom already have ownership of the weapons in recognition of the sport or some twaddle along those lines

The sinister purpose behind the nanny state: Ensure that the laws are so inconsistent and complex, so that normally law abiding citizens may be classed as criminals.

this is ridiculous banning plastic guns that fire pellets.

recent murders have been commited with real guns.

government are fools.

You're all wrong, we got an exemption from the VCR.

There will however be new restrictions on buying new airsoft guns.

This is all that will change.

From the 1st of October 2007, the laws regarding airsoft guns are changing. This is a brief summary of those changes, more information can be found here: www.ukara.org.uk
If you are under 18 years of age, it will be illegal for you to buy an airsoft gun. It will also be illegal for anyone to sell one to you, whether you are a skirmisher or not.
Over 18s will have to prove that they are airsoft skirmishers. They can do this by taking out membership of an airsoft site which holds third-party liability insurance. In order to facilitate remote selling, UKARA the retailers organisation, has set up a database to which sites can submit their members details. Once a player is verified & on the database, any UKARA member can quickly check that a purchaser is entitled to buy an airsoft gun.
As a founder member of UKARA, Airsoft World are fully committed to this scheme and to abiding by the UKARA Code of Conduct.
Please note that in order to prevent fraudulent purchases, from the 1st of October we will only ship airsoft guns to the address registered in the users database record. (This does not include all orders placed BEFORE 1st October) If there is any delay in populating the database, we may request additional information to verify the delivery address.

oh dear god i love you, been trying to find that exact information for a while myself, thank goodness if it's true

although can i ask for a link to it please so i can read any more details from it

Also interesting is a letter I recently got from an old sensei. Labour are trying to ban the sale of ALL swords, later revised to exclude antiques. This means practice swords - blunt or otherwise are out.

I'm not a fan of the UKARA membership scheme. They're just a third party association that means nothing in the eyes of the law.

I like the freedom of skirmishing anywhere, I don't want to have a certain membership on a site just so I can buy my weapons. I buy all my gear from Hong Kong though anyway.

Looks like you may well have problems with that soon. RSOV will no longer be posting guns to the UK, and I can imagine other major retailers following suit.

You'd of rather had the sale and import of airsoft guns banned all together then?

This is a great result, it keeps the government happy, and was what we needed in the first place to stop most ***** getting their hands on them and giving airsoft a bad name, which was got us tied up in the whole VCR bill.
