The touch is only 16GB :(

More than enough for me, only got 7Gb with 60% of it being stuff I never listen to. :D:D:D

Getting mine for $400 brand new 16GB (200 quid) when I go to Florida in a month.

Will sell my current 30Gb video or give it my Dad if he wants it.

Very interesting... I wouldnt mind a new ipod...
Same. I've had mine for a few years and it'd be nice to get a new thinner one.

The 160Gb iPod Classic is just stupidly over indulgent! I can't ever see me getting anywhere near 160Gb of music.

The 80Gb will do me fine. Also I haven't got a colour screen iPod so that'd be nice. With the iPods getting thinner this means I can carry my iPod around more easily than I do now. With a protective case my 40Gb click wheel iPod just feels a little too bulky for me.

I can't get over the fact that my 40Gb iPod is 6.2 ounces heavy/light and the new 160Gb iPod is 5.7 ounces heavy/light. So in three years Apple have managed to quadruple the capacity of the iPod but achieve a half ounce weight reduction!! About an 8% reduction if my very poor maths skills tell the truth. That's technology for you I suppose.

Not sure about the "classic" metal design though. The back of the iPod was always the one that got scratched easily so having the whole thing in metal could cause problems perhaps? Unless its a stronger metal considering its making up the entire casing now and not just the back.

Looking at the Apple site, the black version seems much better than the silver version. Think I'll look at them in the Manchester shops when I go back to uni and see which version I like and then get mine asap!

Just a photo for the lazy people;

iPod touch.

Comes with a stand too, that's great it'll look fantastic on my desk, plus you don't have to plug it into your PC if you've got Wifi, iTunes in Wifi mode for sending/playing files I guess should work, though it'll be a tad slower sending stuff over. (Will have to when charging obviously)

One thing I don't get about the ipod classic is that Apple keep banging on about higher quality 640x480 videos but the screen resolution is still 320x240?

It would have been a lot more tasty if the res was 640x480.

The touch iPod doesn't sync with iTunes wirelessly. The Wi-Fi feature lets you browse the net, watch videos on youtube, and buy tracks from the iTunes store - but not sync with your iTunes library!

Apple said:
320-by-240-pixel resolution at 163 pixels per inch
Apple said:
H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats

Hmm you're right. Perhaps they mean it can display video files up to 640x480 on its 320x240 screen. Anything bigger than 640x480 is too much for the processor?

Apple sells 640 x 480 videos on iTunes, hence why the iPod can play them. When they finally bring out an iPod with a better screen, no one will have to rebuy their videos.

Plus, don't forget you can plug the iPod into a TV and it will play videos in the higher resolution.
