Thermaltake V1 review?

Just installed this. Its an excellent cooler, on par with WC temps imo and the best I have used .

Pros

Best cooling on air around imo.
Looks great.

Cons
On max fan it does get quite noisy.
Can be fiddly to install due to size.
Will leave deep cuts in fingers without you realising, till you are bleeding profusely.

Oh and its huge(pro if you have space, con if you dont), if you have a side case fan you might want to check you have 14cm +2 of clearance from cpu to fan.

It's not just the height dimensions, there are two little metal 'ears' that act as fan-guards on the side on the V and these stick out quite a long way. When I was trying to re-install the motherboard tray on my Eclipse case it was these that were the issue, not the height, and even now, it's only 1mm away from the CPU fan.

The cooler itself is phenomenally efficient, if I switch off the central fan, and just use the CPU and Rear exhaust fans, it only goes up 1C so if you're not that fussed on the bluey glow of the fan and you have excellent case airflow, just leave the CPU fan turned off.

In this case the CPU is a 3.2GHz lapped E6300 that was known to run quite hot and has previously required water-cooling to keep it under 65C. I think the cooler is good, the question is - is it better than many others? and the answer is no, it's not, but it is very pretty to my eyes.
