Stranglehold Demo hits PSN this week?

Hopefully this will come to the EU PSN after last weeks poor update (bar Warhawk)

Ah, that would be excellent news.
That way I can try it, and cancel the Collectors Edition preorder, if it turns out to be crap ;)

Still, from what I've seen/read so far though, look like a good, fun, actionfest.. and I loved Max Payne II.

I completed The Darkness on the PS3 and loved every minute of it, I think its a bit harsh saying its crap, It was a shoddy port of the 360 version but still more than playable and enjoyable.
You are right, I was a bit harsh as I only played the demo.

But it is an unoptimised port and the PS3 can do so much better, I should have said crappy for some :p

I have the collectors edition on pre-order from that Canadian site.

Yes, me too, £37.99, has anybody found it elsewhere cheaper?

I hope it's not the same as The Darkness which is crap on PS3

I bought The Darkness, and once I started playing it, I found it hard to stop until I'd completed it. I thought it was brilliant. I've never seen the XBOX360 version to compare it to, so just enjoyed it on its own rights.

I did of course notice framerate issues though, though I'd put this down to the fact it was running in 1080p, maybe the devs would've been better off leaving it at 720p, and leaving more power available for the framerate. Didn't try deselecting 1080p from my PS3 video setup mind, to see if it made a difference, as it didn't bother me that much ;)

Great game!

Roll on Stranglehold, hoping that the game looks and plays great, and is at least as much fun as Max Payne II, and that the quality of Hard Boiled justifies the extra cash... though, £5... guess I can't expect perfection for an extra £5 ;)

IIRC that will not help, the game is rendered at 1080p and then scaled to 720p so the framerate will be the same.

I saw some footage on a games program a few days ago but they did not specify what machine it was running on, it looked very much like Max Payne, the character was sliding on a rail down the stairs shooting left and right, at the bottom he jumped on a trolley still firing left and right, it looked very cool although I wasn't blown away by the grpahics but I have no idea what machine it was running on.

Fair enough, just too used to PCs then ;) Turning the res down to improve performance if needs be ;)

I've seen multiple trailers for it, and it does indeed look very Max Payne like, which is why I keep mentioning it. Seen trailers for XBOX360 and PS3, and wasn't once blown away by the graphics either, but the game looks like good fun, so aren't too bothered about that. So long as it doesn't look dire ;) From the trailers I wouldn't consider the graphics poor, just rather "plain"?
