Out of interest, what would be the course of events if the UK shot one of their planes down for being somewhere it shouldn't?

I doubt it would start WW3 as Russia doesnt have the inclanation, or will to do it, and they would be in the wrong for invading Uk air space...

In the next 100 years I rekon that The Middle East will finally join forces and rise up against America, China will become the next economic if not military super power shifting the pressure on Russain borders, Russia will be forced into securing its reserves of oil forcing Europe to secure its own borders against the rising Red Army, defenses will go up across the planet and the world will descend into a recession so great the popluation will not recover from it even if they manage to survive the pending environmental disaster.

Mark my words, it will all end in tears.

I reckon the middle east will still be blowing each other up.

China will decline when cheap labour shifts to eastern europe.

I think it is envitable. Global politics is all about securing wealth for your country. USA, etc are doing it now by "saving" the middle east from tyrants (stealing their oil).

History just repeats itself. Look at the causes for war and most of them are to make those in power richer.

I thought it was old news until I double checked the date.

The patrols are really only to make a point and maybe get a bit of recon rather than than pose a risk to NATO forces.
