I actually quite like the way Angus posts, I find it interesting/funny/bizzare :D

Infact the only posting style I do find offensive is Pottsey's refusal to use the quote button, an example:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10006679&postcount=20

I mean, seriously, surely it's easier to hit the quote button than messing about copying/pasting text and adding speech marks and the [ b ] tag?!

It makes me want to set fire to my face.

I would love for Angus (don't you think the weather is great for September?) to take on the role of an author (It's like really hot here).

I would find great pleasure (I mean, it's practically scorching) in decoding each page.

Angus, I'm just curious; what did you get for your GCSE English grade? You're asserting that your grammar is correct, but I can assure you that your use of brackets is both excessive and incorrect. In future, before using "[]" within "()" try instead to use a comma, a new sentence or even a semi-colon. There is no need to have tangents within your prose. If something is completely irrelevant but you would like to include it, that is generally where "[]" comes into force, it's not supposed to be a divider within normal rounded parenthesis.

My grade in English GCSE (Literature) was "A", and my grade in English GCSE (Language) was "A".

English is my weakest subject, but I worked extremely hard to ensure that I attained my target.

Still better then I got, but I guess that's proof they're getting easier, eh? ;)

Angus, if you really are unaware of the proper use of the parenthesis, just do a quick read of wikipedia and academic journals/papers. Generally, rounded parenthesis are used to encompass the tangents, whereas the square brackets are used very rarely, usually as an author's commentary within a quote, for example.

Use them sparingly, and you're on the right track. If you struggle to form arguments without including thousands of brackets, you will suffer when it comes to university, especially where word-limits are concerned. Lecturers may simply get fed up with your work and refuse to mark it. How would you feel if that was your dissertation or post-graduate thesis? Get in good practice now, and you'll be fine.

He wouldn't get through the first year at a [decent] University (see what I did there? Using both square and normal brackets properly.)

Attaining an "A" at GCSE is not really a great claim.

I seriously don't get all the negativity that surrounds him.

Would you rather everybody on here posted identically? *cliche alert* Variety is the spice of life, let him get on with it.

Oh and I also agree with the above - half of this stuff is just personal attacks on him.

Is anyone in this thread actually over the age of 14? It sure doesn't look like it bar maybe 2 or 3 posts. I'm sure i don't see many 'adults' ganging up on a person because they don't like the way somebody else types, i mean wtf, take a step outside, the sun is shining, yes there's a real world out there, go play hide and seek or something, it's conker season, go and knock some out the trees and give the thread bashing a rest, it aint funny and have you ever considered that someone might not like the way you type threads? Doesn't mean they have the right to tell you how to type and to take the michael out of you. Sign of isecurity that is, bullying.

A GCSE in anything isn't really a great claim :p

They're simply not worth the paper they're written on. Merely just a step up on the ladder to further education. Anyway, that's a completely separate debate altogether!

It's remarkable how like a playground this place is, isn't it!

Not really. You haven never (to my knowledge) studied an essay which I have written; you have also (to my knowledge) never seen any of my English work (Language, or Literature). I would request that you (and the other people) stop with the nonsensical and juvenile posting in this thread, but I have done so on so many other occasions that it seems hardly worth it (people never seem to comply).
