...is it any good? It *looks* comparable to the Dell with it's 92% gamut etc, but is it?

The hp is a tn film 24" i think as the viewing angles are 160/160 but then it says 8 bit colour which i thought means non 6bit tn film surely the viewing angles should be better if it's spva/sips?
It's in a well known high st shop for £399.

It certainly looks interesting. What to do, the Dell, or this bad boy?

I like the look of the "glossy" bezel, but this description taken directly from the Hyundai site cracked me up:

"Designed to consider the possibility of rasing the dignity of the user in order to match the atmosphere of high class in environment. It is bring into relief sensitive parts as completed elaborate and sample."

:p

haha, a good description there :) the glossy panel coating looks to only be on the new 3D version, not the standard one

So, in your opinion should I be all over the Dell? The 3D business sounds a tad gimmicky to me.

Yes the dell by far hp monitors have a joke of a warranty usually 1 year
dell is 4 years next day and 0 dead pixel guarantee for those reasons alone i would get the dell.

Warranties are funny things though. I mean, if the monitor is as good as people say, it shouldn't develop a fault within 4 years so I'd never make use of the warranty!

I have no idea but i was talking about the hewlett packard one HP Vivid Color Technology (92% Color Gamut panel),
"True 16.8M colors (8-bit color)"
this is what confuses me if it's an 8bit panel or 6 bit check viewing angles.
And another thing these tft's are starting to use the same and more power than crt's which is kind of defeating the purpose is it not.
EDIT:
I'm going to answer my own question since I bought it and quickly returned it. It does have working 1:1 and aspect modes, however, the screen is a TN panel and the viewing angles disappointing. The poor viewing angles and lack of uniformity on completely black screens were the primary reasons I returned it.
So it is a tn film why are they stating 8 bit on their page the clever marketing swindle continues.

the 3D version wont be available for a while i dont think, just in it's "show at a fare" stage :p The Dell is well established and would be a good choice i'd say :) not enough info about the Hyundai W240D yet

just noticed thread title is about HP model tho!

i think it's me who's caused the confusion! sorry, model ive been discussing is the Hyundai W240D and it's new 3D version as linked above. sorry to OP if he meant the HP model!

Well, I for one was confused! So much choice!

I think it has to come down to the Dell, my only choice now is do I order the beast now or do I wait for the price to drop?

Decisions decisions!

Badass any chance you can try to confirm exactly what were getting panel wise and if our advertised specification is correct? We supposedly have a UK/Europe exclusive on this panel and it does indeed look superb. When they arrive tomorrow I shall have a closer look at one to try and discover what panel/tech it uses. :)

Does that one use a TN Film? It looks very nice just a bit out of my limit atm.

With those viewing angles, no.

But I think that is why Gibbo is worried and double checking.

With 2ms repsonse time and if it isn't a Tn panel, that is going to be one awesome monitor

Hi there

Well its hard to gather, it might be 2ms, 4ms or 6ms and hence I am trying to confirm. This panel is so new its hard to gather any true specification on it.
