Next friday I'm being made redundant after 27 years but months before I knew I started to make in roads on a new career.
It took me months but yesterday I finally received an Enhanced CRB check and today the Young Offenders Detention Centre rang to say I can start tomorrow as a Learning & Skills Tutor:)
Its only voluntary for now but everybody and their dog have told me that if I can handle the 'trainees' and go through my inductions I shouldn't have a problem.
I've already been warned that I'll be working with some really nasty characters and some have been in the headlines.

Wish me luck.

That sounds like a fantastically fulfilling vocation. Congratulations and well done . I hope they start paying you ASAP :).

The very, very best of luck with your career change.

I expect the barks will be far worse than the bites.

How does that work then? Do you teach from behind a large guard of a wire fence or something? Cant say I would want to be left in a room with a bunch of detainees like that.

All the best anyways.
