[News] Pavarotti Dies, Aged 71

I was only watching some video's of himself and James brown on youtube the other day. I knew he was ill then. I actually put his name on wikipedia just to make sure he wasnt dead.

It's also been reported that Pavarotti's favourite car is up for sale due to his death. It's said to be a 1990 Nissan Dormer.

You can say that again, he typically stood in the middle of the stage and swayed gently! :p I saw his in Aida on tv ages ago, the idiotic wardrobe people gave him a costume that was basically a colourful sheet he wrapped around him, so that the overall effect was of a large curtain with a head sticking out the top, singing and swaying in the breeze... Voice as clear as crystal though, definitely one of the most beautiful I (and I'm sure anyone) have ever heard!
Interesting you used to be a singer btw - you mentioned that you worked in opera before when you once said you know John Tomlinson, but I didn't realise you meant as a singer. Where did you sing (if you don't mind me asking)? Is it likely I've seen/heard you in anything?

Not funny dude... I heard once that he actually made some serious effort to lose weight many many years ago, but discovered that the thinner he got, the worse his voice became. Eventually he decided to give up the diet, and got really depressed for a time at having to pick between being thin or being able to sing like that. The fat around your voicebox affects how your voice sounds, and presumably he didn't sound as good with less of it.

I worked for Opera North but you will not have heard of me as I was an also ran ....... not a star like Pav'. ;)
 
My mate has just been arrested. He was in a supermarket, & tried to pay for his groceries with a Pavarotti lookalike. He's been charged with passing fake tenors......
