Just found out today that my Dad can be a right git (in a nice way) when he wants to be.

My parents are with HSBC and I'm with NatWest, I opened an account 3 weeks ago but bank messed up so they only ordered my card yesterday. Now I'm meant to be building a new PC for next week before I enter uni.

Now my Dad knowing full well that I can't access the account with HSBC and that all I have is an account number and sort code but no debit card, goes and sends the money for the computer in there.

Me not knowing this, I got all happy at the though, "Oh joy 3 days to clear to NatWest". Then I found it he sent it to HSBC and was like "YAY! ... But how can I buy from OC without my debit card?" He laughed at me and said it's made he's day.

So now I've got to wait like 3-5 working days for my card to come in (was ordered yesterday so how long does it take) then another day or 2 for parts to come in. Am I the only one that thinks that's plain evil?

AND YOU KNOW WHAT KILLS IT!!!111 I've been using his useless old battered PC for a year now while he used the PC I build 2 years ago which would be fine but this system sucks, it can't even play Half-Life on low without stuttering :'(.

Oh don't get my wrong, I'm really happy he gave me the money, more than happy. As he didn't have to even with our agreement from last year. BUT he ain't making it easy for me to order this PC lol.

Couldnt you have ordered it from his card?

We could have so yes. However as the money is in my account, he can't be held account for if I order the wrong parts and can therefore say, "your money, your order, your problem".

It's his way of saying everything is in my hands, I prefer it this way,

Hold up, is there anyway I can order and have my parts dispatched tomorrow without a debit card? Do OC do bank transfers? But don't they take like 3 days? I really want my parts for Monday >.<.

Damn, buying you a new PC to help you through uni, that's a new level of evil.

Certainly puts my dad in perspective, his way of helping me through uni was to try and kill my mother when I was supposed to be preparing for exams.

buy from MM then :) bank transfers for the win ;)

either that or kick your dad in the danglies pin him down and repeatedly punch him in the kidneys(he shouldnt have ovaries but if he does punch them instead)

Dads always do these sort of things for a reason in my experience, usually to teach you a lesson about certain values.
In this case though it's clear that your Dad just doesn't like you very much :)

What's doing Fox's life? If you don't like them you could have asked and I'd have stopped ...

Yeah I think I'll call them in the mourning as I dunno if I should go to my branch and set up internet banking or if I should wait for when I'll get my card which is when I don't know.

They said it was order yesterday but I don't work or know anyone that works in a bank so I can't comment.
