I dont want to start a format war off here, but I was just wondering if there is any clear winner with dx10 now out etc.

Will PC games look that little bit more sharper than console games released on the PC at the same time ??

PC will be better than the Xbox 360, but only if you have the hardware to run it that high. Dx10 effects are pittance.

As said above, it will look better on the PC if you have the hardware to turn it up full. :)

I run with 8800GTS 320 on full at 1440x900 and it looks awesome. The game is (perhaps unsurprisingly) easy on the system due to it also being released on the 360, and seems to be fairly scalable.

I would have to say the PC version would probably be better, especially if you have the hardware to max the settings. DX10 doesn't add a lot more than decent looking ripples when you walk through the water. Consequently unlike most other "dx10" games out now, the extra shaders won't cripple performance.

PC would also be more preferable as a control system, but then again i've never played an fps on a console (goldeneye withstanding and i sucked at that!). I don't like the idea of auto aim.

PC Version definitely looks better for me. Running on a 8800gtx, Q6600@3ghz and Benq 24" 1920x1200 all settings on high. Far and away better than the 360 version.

I have a 8800GTS and run at 1280*1024 and it runs a little too slow for my liking, it can run at 80fps and suddenly drop to 30fps which is annoying.

It looks GOOD on both systems. If you want sharpness and higher resolutions, PC is the obvious choice. Simple as.

How many more times do we need to discuss the "PC" or "360" bioshock debate? lol :p

That's interesting, because I have the same card and can run at 1600x1200 with no sudden slowdowns... DX9, max settings, no AA.

*edit* Sorry, just compared specs, assumed you had the same kit for some reason. Silly me.

I run in Vista with DX10 and perhaps my slower CPU is the reason for the slowdowns?

I ran both games side by side (literally) and tbh, I could not see a difference (pc settings maxed).
I saw the DX10 version at a mate's house, and again - could not see a difference.

If you wanna take screenshots and match them up and anally study them, you might fool yourself in believing you can see a difference - if only to make you feel better about spending a wad of cash on a GTX.

I prefer the PC version, as I'm shooting more accurately, and the possibility of mods.

thats my 2 cents worth

am i the only one that thinks the game is a bit pants? I will happily admit that i dont really like the dark/scary type of fps. Especially when that is ALL there is. Just seems that all i do is go around pressing E at everything trying to find more ammo/money/diaries. I was playing ti on Hard but am seriously considering uninstalling the game now. On the other hand, C&C3 was installed and im already hooked.

The only advantage to the XBOX360 version is that (without doing anything illegal), you don't have to mess around with stupid activations/securerom rubbish.

It scales nicely too, so if mouse/kb are important to you, you can feel safe running the game on hardware that isn't absolutely the highest (housemate is playing it on an X1550, A64 S754 3200 and 1GB of ram: it's very playable and not that ugly).
