If you want to have a child you require a child licence.

The licence would only be granted if the parents were deemed to be in a strong enough financial and psychological position to own one. The license would also contain a binding legal document making the parents responsible for the actions of the child until they were 16.

I'm sorry, thats the stupidest thing I've yet heard. So what happens to the couple who get pregnant accidentally? Have to have an abortion? What if their religious or personal moral views are against this? Force them to against their will?? right...

Still religion ;) if they were not religous they probably would get on ok!

RE is a waste of time, religion is an illusion that everything will be ok, mostly made up to stop people going mad that there is nothing after we die. I can't obviously say there is or isn't, but I prefer to believe scientific proof above some crackpot religous person who says there is an afterlife and heaven/hell. It makes more sense.

I am not being ignorant towards religion in the slightest, people, however narrow minded can believe what they like, but I still think they are crackpots and idiots!

You talk as if the two are in opposition to each other. In reality they are aimed at quite different areas of life and problems only arise when people start trying to dress them up as 'The one solution to everything' (something both parties are very guilty of).

I like how you felt the need to say you're being neither ignorant nor narrow-minded since the rest of your post very much makes you out to be both.

Don't see how it does make me ignorant, it makes me realistic!
I am not narrow minded, but I fail to see how religion can help anyone, it is make believe and nothing good can come out of it. They can't all be right ;)

but you are missing the point though, if there was no religion, people wouldn't have anything to dress up, would they!?

anyway, back on topic, I love the idea of having to have a license to have kids, and limit people to no more than two children. Reminds me of Fotress :D

You're dismissing religion by saying it's for "crackpots" and "idiots" and that you "fail to see how it could help anyone".

Apologies, but that's about as narrow minded as you get. Religion works for some people. It works for entire communities and binds them together and makes them happy. Why not leave those people alone rather than call them crackpots. They're happy. Aren't you?

Oh, and I agree with AcidHell2 - education and practice are completely different things. I classify myself as an agnostic, and yet through study and experience know a fair bit about the practice of anglicanism.

Declare a huge area of the moon as UK territory, build a prison there and send all chavs, pervs, murderers and anyone else who doesn’t want to abide by our laws there (anyone seen alien 3?).

Make the immigration law much like Australia’s point system – we only need people here with the required skills.

Bring back apprenticeships/YTS schemes – No option to leave school and go on the ‘dole’ without proper training and/or qualifications.

Declare all cities and towns in the UK ‘car-free’ zones.

Invest heavily on recreational facilities, especially in inner city areas.

Bring the onus back on parents to take responsibility for their offsprings actions, if they don’t comply see note above about moon.

you do know that children dont come from a shop or stork right? :p

Back on topic anyway...

Changes I would like to make are that after completing their GCSEs, kids would be required to make one of the following two choices:

1. Carry on to do A-levels with a view to enrolling at university.
2. Enroll in a government-funded apprenticeship scheme in the trade/field of their choice.

The next step, either after the completion of their A2 exams or after 2 years of apprenticeship, would be 1 year of compulsory service in the armed forces (whether Army, Navy or RAF).

For those who did go on to university, all Bachelor level degrees would be 4-year long honours degrees, with roughly the following design:

1st year spent developing core skills and ensuring solid-grounding in all aspects of their chosen subject.
2nd year would be undertaken at a partner university elsewhere in the EU, with general subject knowledge taken to an advanced level and the opportunity to begin specialization occurring in the final term.
3rd year would be a compulsory industry placement either in the UK or elsewhere in the EU.
4th year would be focused on the student's area of specialization with the majority of time spent on a year-long research project.

That might all be overkill but perhaps we'd see more of our youth arriving at adulthood with a clear idea of where they want to go with their life (and hopefully a more open-minded outlook), and a reversal away from the current attitude of university being a bit of a doss-house for the first year or two.

enforce a battle royale system.

natural selection, only the fittest, most elite people of the nation would survive, making us the most physically powerful and smartest nation in the world

makes perfect sense to me tbh

I could list a lot of rather radical things I'd like to do, but realistically:

- End stamp duty on share earnings, thus giving people with pensions a better deal
- End civil partnership and allow gay/lesbian people to marry
- Give incentives for construction companies to build more houses
- Make organ donourship opt-out rather than opt-in
- Deport any foreign national found guilty of a criminal offence

Fantasy stuff:

- Scrap the EU and make EU v2, featuring all the good parts about the EU (free trade, collaboration on research/policing) but without the bad parts (farm subsidies, corruption, bureaucracy).
- Ban public service unions from striking and instead give them a court of arbitration for disputes
- Reform benefits to force long-term claimers to work (even if it's making them clean up graffiti in order to claim) and give people on disability benefit the incentives and opportunities to get back to work.

I'd ask every person in the UK to write 2 sides of A4 on why they should be allowed to live.

Anyone who:
- fails to do this
- can't justify their existance
- writes poorly, either bad use of grammar, spelling or English

will be culled by the army.

Fixed.
We are all doomed.

Personally I would bring back corporal and capital punushment and mandatory 2 year service in the forces from 18 - 20.

Deport everyone without work permits. Scrap inheritance tax amongst others. Leave the EU. Ban the building of further mosques, churchs, synagogues. Enforce punishments and social services on those who have children under the age of 21. Enforce life sentences as actual life sentences, and build more jails to meet cell demands. Death penalty for rapists, paedophiles, murderers and wanton repeat offenders. Permanent tracking system on anyone who has commited a crime no matter how insignificant (you go against society, you forfeit your rights basically). Make A-levels mandatory. Give far more powers to the police, including on the spot subduement of yobs and anti-social delinquents.
