Elise Trashed in London

How come the Lotus Elise seems to be getting more and more expensive as this story progresses?

First it was a reasonably oldish S2 Elise. Then it was a £20,000 Sports car.

Now its a £30,000 Sports car!

Exaggerated to make the story sound more worthwhile, journalists don't let facts get in the way of a good story!

You can't have sauce on Popcorn!

to be fair, i doubt they caused any damage by just jumping onto it. Maybe a few scratches, but surely no dents!

They are just kids, for Christ sake have people not got better things to do with there time than to track people down for ******* about drunk jumping on a car?

Seriously, the t'internet detectives need to get out more.

No damage? Apart from a caved in roof?

No they are not kids they look far far older than just 'kids'

If it was your car and you saw this video would you let it go? Doubt it.

I'd kick their heads in, I'm not disputing that, just think the amount of media attention it's getting is stupid. Seriously, who cares? Doesn't look like the owner is bothered about doing anything either.

Where does it mention a caved in roof?!?

And the exactly why this country is going down the pain, its people like you sir thats got us into this little brat / grown up generation of delinquents.

Start taking an interest in your country and see the wider picture.

It's a soft top, I reckon it's a fair bet that jumping and throwing yourself onto it has that effect.

The video has no proof of that, and i would assume some sort of strength is there, or they would make an easy abduct/steal car. I'm not saying these **** are in the right, they're not, but the amount of fuss being made over it is silly.

I beg your pardon? What qualifies you to make such statements?

Come on everyone, lets all quickly jump on the band wagon everyone else is on, lets wish them dead, run over, ovaries punched and hit with a keyboard. Sod it, nuke them from orbit.

The media is speaking loudly over what this country is, so held up in other peoples business. Face it, it's a big bang and hype about kids ******* about at night which i am sure happens in every town/city every night.

Can I come around and jump on your car tonight then Matt? I trust you wont give a stuff?

Like i have said, i didn't say what they did was right, i don't agree with it. all i am saying is far to much fuss is being made over a petty issue. Police time will be waisted over this purely because the media have made a thing out of it.

Not once have i condoned their idiotic behavior or criminal damage.

"dents" in fibre glass...? mmm no :) Fibre glass cracks... you get spider web cracking from impact forces. That car will need to be resprayed at the very least. Even then the spider webbing could reappear... it has weakened the fibre glass.

Plus the soft top was completely destroyed.

No need to beg my pardon, i'm not going to withdraw the statement, read it again if you wish.

You don't care these people are clearly damaging other peoples property, yet you would care if it happened to yourself, quit being so selfish.

The simple fact of the matter is in the last 10 years things with young kids have got worse and its all cheap drink and taking away peoples rights to deal with the kids appropiatly.

.

Not at all something finally needs to be done to make an example out of these people.

When have i said this!? My point is it is a petty crime being turned into something far more because of media coverage. I would have course be annoyed and want justice if it happened to my car, but naming these people and publishing their names and addresses on the internet is stupid.

I agree, kids are causing havoc these days, but this is not a way to sort it out, and one incident isn't going to change that.

It's not every day that some thugs incriminate themselves by posting a video of them vandalising a car. I'd guess that's why this has struck a chord with people... You expect to see this sort of thing in a rough part of Liverpool - not a wealthy part of London.

Also there's the fact that the thugs had nothing against the owner. They simply were drunk and rowdy and saw a car they were jealous of and decided to trash it.

A suppose the fact that it's a British sports car marque has perhaps acted as a catalyst. If the video was of a Vauxhall Corsa getting trashed I don't think as many people would be up in arms about it. Although I'm sure the same would have happened - i.e. a internet-based man hunt. But perhaps not of such large scale. Not because people value the car less but simply because I suspect the online "Corsa" community is nowhere near the size of the "British light weight sports car" community.
