Does laughing at a Black joke make me racist?

See I hate how none blacks are "racist" when this happens, but I see black comedians on tv tell white jokes & make fun of whites all the time. Ofcourse this is the US, not sure how it is over there.

I have a black friend at work, i call him the n word and he calls me the n word.. when we r mucking about.. its really nothing but if someone political correct caught my saying it id be in DEEP ****

Hehe, one time my aunt couldn't get financial help so she went home & painted herself black. I think she got it then, my mom told me about it, I wish I was there though. :)

just depends on the tolerance of the person and the type of personality they have, i wouldnt go telling a racist joke at work because well if someone finds it offensive they will more than likely escalate it.

but if you tell it socially i dont see what the problem is, i couldnt give a rats arse
if a black dude made a joke at a white dude. btw RIP Bernard Manning.

Why is being racist such a bad thing?

Restricting someone's freedoms because of their ethnic background is bad. There is a general feeling these days, at least where I live, that people deserve 'Human Rights' regardless of who their parents were. See also 'The Holocaust', 'Ethnic Cleansing'.

it can get a bit confusing.

if i make a joke about a black person i am deemed racist. hang on there, im making a joke about his colour not his race, and said black man could be english , which is the same race as me, so if it is racist, then it should be ok, just as long as you call a english blackman a **** and not a african blackman.

Race refers to 'genetic stock' in most cases, nationality refers to where you're from.

What does the amount of black people I know have anything to do with this thread?

Well, you said that black people who catch you laughing at black jokes will invariably accuse you of racism. Which, considering the OP described his black co-workers telling him black jokes, doesn't often happen in my experience. Hence Justintime's question. If you plan on answering him, could you also tell me how many times have you personally been accused of racism by a black person for telling a black joke?

Last time I told a black guy a black joke, he laughed more than the others and said it was because it is "so true". I don't remember the joke, but it involved fried chicken. :p
