Elise Trashed in London

When have i said this!? My point is it is a petty crime being turned into something far more because of media coverage. I would have course be annoyed and want justice if it happened to my car, but naming these people and publishing their names and addresses on the internet is stupid.

I agree, kids are causing havoc these days, but this is not a way to sort it out, and one incident isn't going to change that.

Sounds like a perfectly good way to sort things out to me >.> Never in my life.. even when very very drunk have I even contemplated climbing over someones car? So wtf is so special about them?

Also, its not just the fact that they did it, its the fact they had the cheek to film it and then stick it on a damm website.

If anything they deserve a good kicking just for their own stupidity.

Any crime could be called petty if you don't have an interest in it. Naming people on the internet is far from stupid. You do realise just how quickly and effectively information can be spread on the internet?

I find your attitude towards this situation quite mind-boggling. I know your not condoning what they did, but it seems your more than happy enough to brush it under the carpet with every other 'petty' crime. Its good to see some people doing something about it, rather than relying on our pathetic Police Force and Justice system.

It's not every day that some thugs incriminate themselves by posting a video of them vandalising a car. I'd guess that's why this has struck a chord with people... You expect to see this sort of thing in a rough part of Liverpool - not a wealthy part of London.

Also there's the fact that the thugs had nothing against the owner. They simply were drunk and rowdy and saw a car they were jealous of and decided to trash it.

A suppose the fact that it's a British sports car marque has perhaps acted as a catalyst. If the video was of a Vauxhall Corsa getting trashed I don't think as many people would be up in arms about it. Although I'm sure the same would have happened - i.e. a internet-based man hunt. But perhaps not of such large scale.

Can see your point, but i wasn't saying they shouldn't be punished. I think your right, and had it been a beaten out Metro or similar this wouldn't be happening.

My point was how a petty crime (because it wasn't set on fire or stolen, know one died, etc) can get so out of hand because of an internet man hunt.

I don't mean to sound like i am promoting what they did, i am not, i just find it amazing such a thing can turn into a frenzy. I love the Elise and Exige and think they should pay for any damages caused, but publishing their details on the net is wrong. Of course this is all my opinion....

Their details were already available on the 'net and/or public domain.

Pah, forget i said anything.

Regardless of what you say it is a petty crime. It's a ****** car, not someones face/head.

Publishing their details on the net is not a good thing, god knows what someone might do to them or their family. Pay for the damage they should but some of it is going to far.

Criminal damage doesn't really fall under the usual confines of 'petty' crime.

Wheres this 'frenzy'? I have yet to see it. There are a few forums on the net looking into it, and some papers publishing tiny blown out stories. Not quite my definition of a frenzy.

I'll remember that next time I hold up a bank with a shotgun. As long as I don't actually hurt anyone its only a 'petty' crime. Lets just hope the courts see it like that.

Disagree, anyone doing that to my car or my parents cars,or even to my friends cars, would be shot, burned, or at least hit a few hundred times with a bat...
If I knew their adress, there wouldn't be much left of their home.
Cars are holy :D.

I somehow don't care of someone gets hit, but I do care when stuff like cars get hit, I'd prefer to recover my face in a week of chilling or 2 than recover the money in years of working.

If someones head gets punched, I'm like: that happens, not my business.
But if I hear about cars or any expensive property being punched or vandalized, I immediatly want to hit the people that did it.

If this happened in the USA there's a good chance you would get shot, possibly killed, by the owner. Now *that* is taking it too far.

Imo it isn't, I'd gladly do the same.:o

People should learn that they may die if touching other peoples cars.

I doubt I would kill someone for damaging my property. Given the law on my side (yes I know it isn't in this country) though I would possibly seek to 'disable' them from causing any further immediate damage though.

Just takes a few murders as examples and then Im sure people would think twice about running over someone elses car regardless of how drunk they are!

Best case is they are made to pay for all damages and get some community service, lets face it they aint gonna get slapped in the clink.

Shame really.

And criminal records. There aren't many big companies in the city that will employ such people so their lives as they know it would be ruined.

All three guys are 28/29.

It's not unlikely that the damage caused a several thousand pound bill. The soft top is £720 and the rear clam about £2k, plus engine covered and grilles at another few hundred quid plus painting. Worse case scenario you've looking at a £5k+ bill from that!
