Uninstall ALL drivers you have already installed. Uninstall the UAA.
Restart.
Install the UAA followed by the HD audio drivers.

just found a bit of software that tells me that i need to download INF update, could this be the problem behind my lack of sound ? ? ?

Have you tried installling from the CD that came with your DS3R?

yup have looked at all the drivers on the cd and my sound didnt work. any ideas if this inf would work?

INF is the Intel chipset drivers.

It's a good idea to install them, but I doubt they'll help your sound.

indeed you were right, they just refreshed because they were installed

got the same realtek error when trying to install them but if i look under device manager theres a realtek audio with a ? mark next to it and the propertys show no drivers installed. so i cant see why im getting the error :S

any ideas?

Have you tried extracting the Realtek download to a folder using Winrar or similar, and then pointing the Realtek entry in Device Manager to the folder using the Update Driver... option?

clicked on the update driver but it wont open the "where to look for new drivers " window

4 days later and your still without sound?

I would have formatted long ago and installed drivers again in the correct order.

im a busy boy

four days without sound aint that bad, only reason i havent formatted again is because of the amount of updates i have downloaded, once i copied them to my external hdd i will most probably reformat
