Wasson!

My girlfriend has a Renault twingo, R plate with about 30k miles on the clock.

It's in awesome condition apart from some curbing on the alloys...

I've planted the idea of selling it and getting a 205 gti to strip out and make fun for her. She doesn't do many miles so should be ideal!

Only problem is the Twingo is left hand drive... what do you reckon would be the best way to get rid for a decent price? There's only 4 in the entire uk on autotrader which makes me think i'm fighting a losing battle!

This car has cult status amongst some people, there must be an owners club or something? I reckon you'll be suprised how much it sells for.

Oh really?! Hmm... I like your post!

Anyone aware of any clubs? I will get my google fingers going :)

It was widely regarded as pretty genius as far as city cars go and it was a shame Renault never imported them.

Her dad imported it from new, full service history and it's actually 30k in kph so about 15k miles...

Good little car really... probably get a 205 gti or something and it'll be a dog!

She'll kill me!

Bet she parks it in a bush 1st time out, it's a big difference in power, as for selling the Twingo, ebay seems to be a gathering of mugs right now.

Calm down! She's been driving for about 9 years...

Plus she's driven my beast a few times, seems decent enough.

Also a shame that they've completely ruined it with the new model :(

The reason was because when converted to RHD they had to alter the steering and suspension so drastically that the car would have had catastrophic consequences for internal occupants if involved in an accident. They deemed this to be financially non viable.

The new twingo looks quite smart however. I saw one the other day.

R5 GTT engine fits in these without too much bother. I think they're wicked little cars, much more interesting looking than most bland super minis (especially when they were released.)

<3 Twingos.

Didn't even know there was a 'new' one...But something tells me it won't be a patch on the original.

Awesome, want one!

Buy my girlfriends twingo?! :D

Only problem I can see is... we are selling a reliable/cheap car that has only done 23k miles (I checked it properly last night) to possible buying a 15 year old car with 100k miles on that could cost a bomb!

Is she a bit of a petrol head? I know a lot of girls would prefer a newer car with power steering etc? oh and she may prefer a CTi :)

Sods law in action:

After posting that, I walked into town and there was a new Twingo promo car parked on Northumberland Treet.

Looks gash.
