I saw a MASSIVE Dragonfly the other day. When I say massive, I don't mean 3-4 inches. I could see it about 20 meters away, and when it came towards me  it looked like it was about 18" in size.

I had to run away from it...as you do. ;):o

hahaha this had me laughing my head off, i can so imagine that. :D

that thing looks huge.... not as big as the camel spider someone posted about a few months ago.............. * shivvers *

If you run away from Dragonflies then you are officially a girl... how on Earth are they scary?

There movement is so damn eratic, one second there hoverin peacueful, next it disappears behind your back:eek:

Seriously - Dragonflies are absolutey amazing. I hate wasps and go spastic when one is near me, but I would happily let a dragonfly hover around me...:confused::confused:

lol spider time :) Start of autumn seems to be when they all come out to get jiggy and and lets you do the manly thing to earn those brownie points with your other half.

and so the cycle of life is complete ;)

I was just saying why he might and other people find them scary. I don't mind them at all, used to hang around the pond in primary school watchin them ...

Where there's been a boom in the numbers of mosquitos and crane flies all the common spiders are getting fat. I'm surprised some of them can still walk.

Bring on the spiders if it gets rid of the mosquitos, it is like a plague around here.

I don't know - I suppose it's the thought of a massive thing flying towards my face... .

I'm the same with big dark moths or butterflys. If they're black or pretty dark in colour, I brick myself! I have to get my OH to get the sod out the window, if I can't whack it with something long. :o:o

:(

Christ, i hate it whenever people post pictures of snakes or spiders, as i usually sit in my comp chair with no socks on in the dark dangling my feet around the floor, :<

I had one exactly the same as the one pictured in my house last night! It sure did give up a fight when we caught it, at one point it made a mad dash for freedom and boy was it quick! Took some quick reactions to capture it! Unfortunately we released ours back outside and ever since ive regretted it because its only a matter of feet from my bedroom window and could well be back living amongst us here!
