Ok, I've decided to put my new found photoshop "skills" to the test lol

I've made these 2 ads to offer my services, c&c wecome :)

PCRepairAddraft%20(Medium).JPG

Photoeditingdraft%20(Medium).JPG

This is a 1st draft, when I'm done I'm gonna put them in the local shop on the notice board to see if any passing muggs want to give me a few quid to buy some new toys for my son :D

One thing I was thinking is that the photo price is too high and I might take the price off altogether and just quote for exactly that they want doing.

What do people think?

Gash? not Gash? and Ideas/criticisms? (don't be too mean ;) )

Cheers,

G

Comic Sans = Most over-used font in the universe

Go to http://www.1001freefonts.com and choose a font, I think it will make your ads look a lot better.

Also, I recommend doing some photoshop tutorials to add some different effects to the ads. As at the moment, it's just a black or white background with pictures on. Add some colour :)

Nevertheless, nice attempt :)

They look a little amateurish imo. It's the childlike font and randomly placed logos and computer stuff. If I were looking for your services I would really want a more anaesthetically pleasing advert.

So I would say pick a more basic font, drop all the logos (if your working with pcs people would assume you work with all brands) and maybe drop the black background on the second flyer. Use a black border around the images to make them stand out.

Dunno if thats better, it was a quick attempt. But if its not good no worries :)

MUCH better. Seriously that looks miles more professional looking that the first one. :)

Easy to read and gets the point across quickly.

I will leave the .PSD format on my laptop for the time being if needs be. Gonna have a go at the PC one.

edit: done

Wow! Thats miles better mate :D

Thank you! :D

I tried to put a border around the seperate pics, but when I went to select....modify....border after selecting say the eye layer...the modify bit was blanked out and it wouldnt let me put a border on it :/

Any ideas why?

As you all know I'm just learning photoshop, the things I've put on the ad are about the only things I've learned so far lol but I figured I may aswell try getting more practice at them :D

/edit the only other thing I would say is that I'm putting this on photo paper so it needs to be 6 inches wide and 4 inches high.

When I printed my one to see if it looked ok it missed like 1 mm from the side which I had to rota-trim off, but thats no biggie.

Thanks very much for your replies btw lads :) it is much appreciated :D

that one looks well done there ;)
only thing you need to fix is... the type, dont have it cutting accross the top of the monitor, and the mouse lead.

keep it in the white, other than that, perfect ;)

I did Layer > Layer Style > Stroke

Thats what I used for the boarder. A guy I used to know had done loads of adverts and book covers for people (PD James books even) and his advice was bold, simple text. Easy to read. And if your going to print these I would go more quite than black, as its easier on the printer's cartridge.

Simple is better. If you want the .PSD I can email them to you no problem and you can fiddle with it.

Altered image to move PC:

You are a star Tom!!!! :D

Where did you get that picture of the pc? looks really good.

Just goes to show how much the utter noob I am rofl!

Thanks very much for your help mate, if you wouldn't mind emailing the psd files that would be awesome :D I don't think there is anything I need to change from yours they are perfect :) Just want to make sure they are the right size for my paper :)

Was gonna ask do you think charging the amount I've put it out of order? Especially barring in mind I'm using their photos to learn with lol. If I can't do what they want obviously I won't change them :)

/edit email in trust.

MS Word clipart, just typed in "Computer" to search :D I will send you those .PSD's and fix the spelling mistake :)

those prices are way over the top. £7 a photo. Joker.

I'm after constructive criticism, not just criticism ta.

I don't know how much people would pay for it, hence me asking multiple times in this thread if the prices were reasonable.

If you'd like to suggest something more reasonable feel free. Joker. ;)

Emailed the files, so check for them. Any problems just post here

Nice one mate :D Received with thanks :D Much appreciated!

/edit doh! Looks like you have more fonts than me. Which one did you use?

"Some text layers contain fonts that are missing."

Gill Sans MT, if you don't have it I would use just a clear font like Arial. Just something people with good or bad site could read.

As for photo prices, I would say some around the £2 mark. Or adjust depending on work/size. £7 is a lot. Would you pay someone to say edit 10 photos? Thats £70!

You need to sort the prices into categories and quantities.

1-5 basic colour correct and redeye - £5 then knock the price up 3 or 4 quid for every 10 more or so etc etc, dont do it per picture, its very easy to do redeye and colour correct so you cant offer much

Basic repair and blemish 1-5 £10 or so
Advanced repair and replace - £quote based on level of work.

Thats the way i would offer it.
