best way to fit artic freezer in antec p182?

with either the fins on the rear of the heat sink facing the back of the case or pointing up the top of the case? guess it doesn't really matter on the p182 as it has outlet fans at the back and top..

IIRC the p182 has a great big fan in the top like the antec 900 (which is my case). I have mine with the fan pointing downwards as it sucks air through it, over the fins and out the top of the case. I tryed it facing the back of the case but temps were almost 5 degrees higher.

cheers for the info :-)

I have a P180 which is basically the same and I've pointed mine towards the back of the machine. I've tried vertical as well but noticed no difference at all from putting it sideways. As long as you don't point it towards your DVD drive you should be okay :) Not tried pointing it towards the graphics card and letting the top fan suck out hot air, didn't think it'd work as well as pointing it towards the back / top of the machine.

what way do you have the psu fitted, fan facing up or down? and has anyone checked if it affect temps? fitted mine facing down

I went for the fan side of the psu facing down. There's a nice gap between the case floor and the psu cage - it just seemed to be the way to go.

As for the artic freezer, I went with rear of the freezer facing the rear of the case. The P182 has top and rear 120mm fans, so I figured there wasn't much to choose in terms of extraction. BUT... my mobo is an Abit IP35, and if I'd gone with "downward" orientation, the freezer's intake would be grabbing air heated by (1) the gfx card and (2) the chipset heatsinks. Finally, if I decide to mount a fan in the middle section of the case (in front of the middle HDD tray) then the freezer will get some of that fresh air...
