Samsung G600 - Opinions?

Looking to get one of these to replace my K810i.

Im just worried about texting on it, I text a LOT, and I just wonder how easy it will be on this phone...

After playing with a g600 in store i have mixed feelings about it. The size of the phone and usability are good, but the camera is shocking for a 5mp and it blurs very easily. The screen quality is even a bit pants too, stick with the k810 for the time being :)

If its similar to my D900 then you would have nothing to worry about.

Hmm, thanks for that Mr Sniper. Will perhaps have to have another look. I cant think of anything else to upgrade to at the moment bar that, the N95 doesnt appeal to me due to its problems, Orange even warned me about it when I phoned even though it meant more money in their pocket!

Any other suggestions?

Orange will only say that because they ruined the phone themselves, the N95 is a great phone and should just be treated like how you would treat your pc.

If you went for an N95 then just ask for a GSM one as the Orange software really does suck, they're finally on v11 for firmware and to overcome a menu problem they designed an application to sit on top of the normal menu system. So whenever you press a button for a normal menu function, you go back to the normal theme. This however can be turned off, i just hate most of the orange branding i can't say i've met someone who uses it properly.

The only other option is to sit tight at the moment and wait for the new range of SE to come out

Ah right I see, for some reason though im just not interested in the N95, ive read too many problems with it.

Could I request an unbranded GSM phone from Orange? I just assumed it would have to be one of their branded ones?

Il probably hold out a couple months and see what is on the horizon.

I agree, hold out and see what the next bunch of phones are like.

I think you can ring orange and you can get some GSM phones from them, i knew at some point they were sending them to customers because of the software issues they were having.

My best mate has had one for a week now and im a little disappointed with it, i dont think he's exactly over the moon about it.

As pointed out earlier for a 5mp camera the images look like etcha sketch :p cant tell my mate this as he would be annoyed.

Screen is okay, mp3 player okay, applications above average, txting difficult (as i find on all samsungs).

I got one earlier this week, I wasn't that impressed by it at first but it has grown on me so I think I'll be keeping it.
One big minus is that text message alerts can only be one of four Samsung preset tones, no customisation :(
Apparently a firmware update will sort this, but I haven't found one yet.

The N95 is actually quite good once you upgrade the firmware to a newer one. Only real downsides for me atm are lower than average battery life, and some slight firmware niggles that will probably be sorted out in the coming months when Nokia get a new one out.

But yeah, N95 is a cracking phone. Camera is brilliant on it once the firmware is updated.

It's not unreasonable to expect a phone to be able to withstand damage (especially drunken) and general wear and tear. Phones will get abused, and if a model can't stand up to "regular" use then its not worth buying.

I was tempted to upgrade to this from my D500, but I may give it a miss.

I had one and did not like it and found the camera rubbish for 5MP, so sent it back. Will stick with my 8800 for the time being.
