Howdy,

Just popped into town to shop for a new phone and have come back with a blinder..the SE T650i! I used to own a T610 (who didn't!) and after seeing a TV advert for the T650 I decided it warranted a look. I was after something to replace my Z600i. It needed to have a decent camera, be thin enough to stop the unsightly bulging in my pockets ;) and also have a nice sharp screen.

This phone is apparently a CPW exclusive so popped into the local store. As soon as the sales assistant took it out the box (which is really classy in itself) I was in love :) The build quality is second to none. It has a full aluminium shell but weighs in at only 95g..it just oozes quality. The photos of this phone just don't do it any justice.

The spec list is pretty impressive for such a small device, including

3.2M pixel camera with auto-focus and picture light
Scratchproof mineral glass screen (262,144-colour, 240x320 pixel TFT)
3G with front-mounted video call camera
FM Radio
Bluetooth
Video/Photo editor
MP3 Player

It's not got some of the features of the Walkman series phones TracKID or a pedometer, but this is a business phone after all. It does have the flash menus system found in some of the newer SE phones.

I wasn't too sure about the small number keys to start with. but after using them they're actually the best keys I've used in a long time. There's a satisfying click to them and it's very easy to distinguish one key from another. Rather than a fiddly joystick like the one found on the K810i there's a 4-way directional pad which is very easy to use.

The camera is great. Auto-focus is one thing that all mobile cameras should have fitted! The photo light isn't a proper flash but it seems to do good job at lighting an area up to 2 metres away..enough to work out what the photo is of, anyway!

Included in the box is a charger, 256MB M2 mem stick, USB cable, headphones/handsfree-kit, carry pouch, and a really classy desk stand.

In summary I can't recommend this phone highly enough. Even if the photos haven't done anything for you then pop into a CPW and ask to play with one and I guarantee you won't be able to put it down!

Here's a few pics for you. If you'd like any other shots then please let me know:

Here's an photo from the phone itself. I've not played around with the settings yet so maybe it could be improved? Good enough for me though:

Great review! And a great phone, I've been lucky enough to be able to have a good long play with one a couple of weeks ago.

I still prefer my K810i, but this is definitely a fantastic phone. Good choice... I'm certain you won't be disappointed

The problem really has to be the k850 coming out quiet soon - same spec but 5 megapixels..

But it's a brick! I was after something as thin as possible and none of the K8xx series fit the bill. The pics really don't show how thin the T650 is..it's 125mm!! They're nice phones but just don't have the same feel of the T650. Of course it's each to their own :)

What? That makes no sense - the k850 is 102 x 48 x 17 !

EDIT: T650i is 104 x 46 x 12.5 so its taller, but has slightly less width to it and is 4.5 mm thinner - so less than half a centimetre.

My bad..yes it's 12.5mm deep, not 125. That'll teach me to try and rush a post before heading out for a curry :)

Oh and if you were wondering why the photo of my back garden looks all washed out, I'd forgotten to remove the bit of plastic protecting the camera lens..doh!!
