Total Nintendo games sold as of June 1, 2007: 2.4 billion (!!)

That is a Nintendownage (see what I did there ;) ) of obscene proportions.

The number of gta sold is really impressive, so is the Dragon Quest franchise, considering that the game never sell out side of Japan I’m surprised the franchise has sold that much.

Also Mario kart 64 seems to be missing, I always though that sold over 10 million.

Reb/Blue/Green are in there because i think in Japan, Blue was Green. Yellow was a post dated release follow up which was a little different...

still though, dos this show decline in the console market games sales (in an industry which is increasing??) hintint at even greater fragmentation ?

apart from GTA and Peal/Diamond those games are like 5-10 years old+

More likely its shows the increase in game pirates

Suprised to see that GTA:SA didn't outsell GTA:Vice City and that HL2 didn't outsell the original Half Life especialy considering the amount Half Life 2 cost to make.

Lets face it the best games will never sell the most, sales mean nothing.

I don't know, most of the games in that list are absolute classics. The Super Mario games, the GTAs, Goldeneye, Gran Turismo etc are all fantastic even today. I've not played the Pokemon games nor the Brain Age so can't comment on those, but of the games in that list that I have played, the only one I didn't like was The Sims 2.

SMB 3, Super Mario 64, Goldeneye, Half Life, GTA Series. If they aren't some of the, if not the best games ever made I don't know what are.

Oh no doubt some of the best games will get on there, but they're also the most commercial. Great games like Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Command & Conquer will never get on there.

Sorry I rate the games in the list much higher than the ones you list. Not to say the ones you mention aren't good. I'd say the reason the ones I mentioned sold so well is because they are ultimate classics not because they are commercial.
