Which should it be, folks?
Seen an XFX 512Mb 7900GTX for £117 and an OCUK x1950PRO as per the site....???

Is there much in it? What should i go for?

if its in a game that likes Sli, the Gx2 can outperform a 8800GTS on occasions (fear being one of them, by a few frames), but a lot of games dont like dual graphics so its more like a 7900gt in them.

Go for the GX2.

The GX2 is 2 7900GTX Go's (2 underclocked 7900GXT's) in games with no SLI optimization the perfomance will be very close to a desktop 7900GTX, in games with good SLI optimization the performance will be very close to a 8800GTX.( ive seen one beat a 8800GTX )
Some motherboards that have problems runing a 7950 GX2 unlike the older 7900GX2 it's only a few, if it runs in yours buy it NOW, It's the best DX9 card ever made and will leather the 7900GTX in most situations, for £117 it's a bargain!

7800GTX or X1950 ?

I've been gone from the scene for quite a while now ;)

Also how good are the ATI HD 2600 cards ?

Sorry for the hijack :/

If it's for you then the 7800GTX but PattoJones has now changed it to a 7900GTX or a 7950GX2 now and the GX2 is the best one from the choices.

The 2600 cards are behind the performance of a X1950pro but obviously it can run DX10 which some people will find attractive. ATI drivers at the moment aren't doing as well as Nvidia's when it comes to DX10 but nothing is finalised with the drivers so it will get better as they release new ones.

Performance crown sits like this (In my opinion and just a few) 8800Ultra > 8800GTX > X2900XT > 8800GTS 640mb > 8800GTS 320mb > X19--XTX

Fixed, and why are people still considering the 7 Series? They were stable as a three legged table and their image quality was miles behind the ATI cards of the time. :o

I've been quite happy with my 7900GT....never given me any problems and it destroys any x1950 pro and is much faster than a x1950xt

Comparing an overclocked (and very likely volt-modded) card against a stock one is hardly fair, is it.

I guess yours is one of the lucky ones that didn't break when there was a 5% failure rate on those cards, but you're still left choking on dust when it comes to image quality I'm afraid. It was dire on the 7 Series.
