8600 are they loud?

8600 is a very cool running card, the 8600gt sucks up 43w of power and the cooler doesn;t need to make hardly any noise to cool that gpu down.
 
thing is i just got a sn25p to put my opteron 165 + 2gb ram in and just want a card to do a bit of gamming on, mostly emulators (snes, n64 and mame) bit of eve and css

Planning on building a uber rig for to go upstairs :)

finding x1800 heats shuttle up like a goodun
 
Ahhh nice one LabR@t. It should be able to handle the Snes and N64 games no problem but I'm not too sure with AA and HDR :confused: :D.

You could even fire up Serious Sam 2 looking quite sweet with that card. I had a 7600GT OC for 3 weeks and it ran quite well.

I agree the x1800 is a little bit toasty for such a small space in comparison to the 7600. I just didn't know that was the case ;).
