I wanto get into rFactor/Live For speed and join some leagues.

To be honest, im totally bobbins at most driving games with a game pad other than the arcade racers.

Looking for some recommendations really for the G25 as it is an awfull lot of money for a "controller" - That word doesnt do it justice I feel.

Also, how does it stick to wooden floors.. best off just using carpet tiles?

Have you raced before? The only reason I ask is because if it's your first time, maybe you should get a cheaper wheel to see if you get into it first before splashing out on such a nice bit of kit. I've got a MOMO from the member's market and she works a treat.

Sorry about having no input regarding the G25, just some food for thought mate :)

Best not to get the G25 if your just entering into the sim gaming scene, its a great wheel no doubt but as your learning you probably won't notice too much, the Driving Force Pro is quite cheap now I think and would be a good base to start from IMO.

Well, if you *really* want to commit to driving sims I'd say go for the G25, I use mine mostly for Simbin's GTR2 and Race and the feedback effects are excellent. If you buy a cheaper wheel you might end up upgrading anyway. See can you source one second hand if you're worried about cost?

I'm so tempted now. Coming down the motorway this afternoon I was thinking how good a gear stick, pedals and wheel would be for racing games as they were always a bit 2 dimensional and had little immersion sitting there using keys or a pad.

If you have the cash get the G25 and you wont be dissapointed, i had another saitek model and after a couple of weeks i just had to upgrade to the G25. Its a great bit of kit and the quality of it is superb. I also like the way you have the 6 speed gear stick or the paddle shift if you want.

It reconfigs everytime you turn your pc on and scared the bajeezers out of you.

Its a nice wheel, good to use, gearbox is a bit too small though, was awkward to use the H shift as I kept putting it from first to 4th :/ but the flick shift is nice and smooth.

Only used one at my mates party on live for speed and it was a nice drive :)

Well I want on -.-

I struggled to justify a G25 for myself for a while, I had an old MS Sidewinder FF wheel and the frustrating thing about that was the lack of support for some games and the poor implementation of forces.

Splashed out in January this year and got a G25 from OCUK and haven't looked back. It is indeed a high quality product and in my mind worth the extra spend. I don't play racing games exclusively, prob more around 50/50 between COH type games and racing. When I do play a racing game the G25 never fails to impress me.

In answer to your question I have wooden floors and the pedals stick just fine, no sliding around no matter how much I mash the pedals. As mentioned above if you aren't sure how much you use it then perhaps it's worth picking up a cheap one first to see if you get into it. Having said that I actually play racing games more now just because they are a pleasure to play.

I now have a few people who visit my house just for a wee shot of the wheel and my 2407, but at least they bring beer:-)
